Karoo Tourism The Baviaans area encompasses the Baviaanskloof and the Karoo towns of Willowmore, Steytlerville and Rietbron in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

Known for small stock farming and for the richness of its endemic plant species, its interesting cultural heritage and its abundance of bird and animal life, the Baviaans area holds ample opportunity for outdoor recreation. Drove 5 hours today with a Cape Cobra in my car, and had no idea it was there. Yip, I had fun today: Drove from Baviaans to just outside Worcester, and then saw a Cape Cobra stick its head out of the dashboard on the passenger side. Stopped the car (fairly quickly) and then waited for an hour with a door open, hoping it will leave. No luck. Then climbed back in, wrapped bags and jeans around my legs just in case, drove 15 minutes to , then jumped out again quickly. Very helpful staff there phoned a snake catcher, and after we searched for 30 minutes pulled this beauty out the car. it poked its head out on the passenger side, rather than the drivers side. to the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency for exporting a snake without a permit. for Andre du Preez from Snake Rescues, shown below, if he is ever in the Baviaans.
