Tucked away in Gillitts is a place that proves you donโ€™t have to travel far to find nature.

Iphithi Nature Reserve is a 12-hectare urban nature reserve featuring wetlands, woodland, grassland, forest, a stream and a tranquil dam, with pathways winding through the different habitats.

๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฆ๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ ๐ข๐๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ข ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ.

What was once an area overrun by invasive trees and neglected vegetation was transformed by local residents into a thriving wildlife sanctuary. Today, the reserve provides a home for an incredible variety of plants and wildlife, including bushbuck, blue duiker, mongoose, birds, butterflies and the endangered Kloof Frog.

Itโ€™s a place to walk, birdwatch, explore, enjoy a picnic or simply slow down and reconnect with nature.

And itโ€™s a reminder of what a community can achieve when people take responsibility for protecting the spaces around them.

The energy was unreal โ€” crowds of happy people, live music filling the air, and the most mouth-watering street food you can imagine. From sizzling local favourites to global flavours, every bite was pure Durban magic.

Day 1 of the Durban Street Food Festival and, we (Durban West Tourism) are still smiling from ear to ear.

Sizzling street food, live music from Veranda Panda & the KZN Youth Orchestra, and that electric Pavilion energyโ€ฆ pure magic.

We are proud to be here supporting local flavours, local talent, supporting local tourism and local vibes.
