TOURISM SECTOR HIGHLIGHTED IN MEDIUM‑TERM REVENUE STRATEGY CONSULTATION

In recognition of the growing economic value of Tourism to national development, the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, , Lusaka-Zambia extended an invitation to the Tourism Council of Zambia to participate on a high‑level panel during the launch of the Medium‑Term Revenue Strategy (MTRS) earlier today.
The MTRS provides a structured framework for building a broader, more predictable and more efficient revenue system capable of financing Zambia’s development priorities. Importantly, its focus on strengthening domestic resource mobilization aligns with the Tourism sector’s growth agenda to increase international arrivals to 5 million by 2031. The integration of tourism‑related revenue considerations within the MTRS therefore reinforces the national objective of positioning Tourism as a catalytic pillar for economic transformation.

The Tourism Council of Zambia was represented on the panel by Mr. Phil Jeffery of Classic Zambia Safaris , the 2025 Highest Tax Contributor in the Tourism Sector, as recognized by the Zambia Revenue Authority . Our participation in today's event underscores the sector’s commitment to national revenue growth and responsible industry practices.

We look forward to deeper and more consistent engagement as the Tourism sector continues to demonstrate its strategic importance to Zambia’s economic transformation.

The Tourism Council of Zambia joins the nation in mourning the passing of His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni speaking people.

We not only mourn the loss of a traditional leader but the great loss of an icon of Cultural Heritage Tourism. As we reflect on the legacy of his reign, spanning over four decades, we are in awe of how in his own unique way, he shaped how we celebrated our Heritage through the generations.

He truly was a once in a lifetime , larger than life, kind of human, it has been a privilege to have been witness to how he curated our view of Ngoni Kingdom.
It will be in his fashion choices, his mode of transport or the meticulous rhythm every time he joined the Impis in dance, but we will miss HRH dearly as the Tourism fraternity.

During his reign, the Nćwala Ceremony has become more than a traditional ceremony, it is now a platform of unity. We extend our deepest gratitude to him for his role in preserving our roots.

📸 2026 as part of the Ncwala Ceremony, a pre event to the Zwangedaba Memorial site was included, forever expanding the scope of the ceremony to the Northern circuit. Today, the ceremony is a series of activities stretched over 5 days that brings travelers from near and far. Thousands of Tourists that economically impact Destination Chipata creating and sustaining jobs
