The Tourism Council of Zambia joins the nation in mourning the passing of His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni speaking people.

We not only mourn the loss of a traditional leader but the great loss of an icon of Cultural Heritage Tourism. As we reflect on the legacy of his reign, spanning over four decades, we are in awe of how in his own unique way, he shaped how we celebrated our Heritage through the generations.

He truly was a once in a lifetime , larger than life, kind of human, it has been a privilege to have been witness to how he curated our view of Ngoni Kingdom.
It will be in his fashion choices, his mode of transport or the meticulous rhythm every time he joined the Impis in dance, but we will miss HRH dearly as the Tourism fraternity.

During his reign, the Nฤ‡wala Ceremony has become more than a traditional ceremony, it is now a platform of unity. We extend our deepest gratitude to him for his role in preserving our roots.

๐Ÿ“ธ 2026 as part of the Ncwala Ceremony, a pre event to the Zwangedaba Memorial site was included, forever expanding the scope of the ceremony to the Northern circuit. Today, the ceremony is a series of activities stretched over 5 days that brings travelers from near and far. Thousands of Tourists that economically impact Destination Chipata creating and sustaining jobs

AFRICA FREEDOM DAY -BIKERS EDITION

Livingstone is a place that has the ability to imprint in the hearts of its visitors. Most arrive to catch a glimpse of a natural Wonder, the mighty Mosi oa Tunya, every one leaves with a treasured experience.

Livingstone isn't just a place you visit. Livingstone is a warm smile, a generous portion of food, a night of unexpected partying, an animal sighting too close for comfort and sooo much more.

This past weekend , Livingstone was everything to everyone. An array of experiences on two wheels! As we take a moment of reflection on the history of the African Continent on this Africa Freedom Day, we salute everyone within the BIKE Culture Africa Family that rode the distance into Livingstone to celebrate BIKE CULTURE FESTIVAL in Livingstone, Zambia!

We have witnessed a spirit of Ubuntu on Two Wheels. This past weekend, passports and visas were replaced by music, food, dance and adventure. For the Flags that were raised across the Victoria Falls Bridge, we hope this is the beginning of the Borderless Africa that we all believe is possible.

TOURISM INDUSTRY EXTOLS FORMER MINISTER

On Saturday 16th May, a day after the dissolution of Parliament and Cabinet, the Travel, Hospitality and Tourism sectors led by the Tourism Council of Zambia hosted an evening to honor the Meritorius tour of duty of their former Minister, Hon. Rodney Malindi Sikumba. The event was attended by a broad representation of the industry that he superintendent over during his tenure of office

The private sector hosted the appreciation event to honor the former Minister's leadership and commitment to transforming the industry into a primary economic driver. The evening celebrated his milestone of One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ten (1,710) consecutive days of dedicated public service.

The evening brought a wave of emotions for everyone present. The event clearly demonstrated that during his time in office, industry connections have evolved into the strong bonds united in purpose evidenced by the representation from all the subsectors who traveled from across the country. This is the undisputed legacy of the former Minister's time in office.
In what has become a signature occurrence at industry events, government and industry took to the dance floor and danced the night away, only this time , there were no office titles to worry about.

The Tourism Council of Zambia Secretariat would like to express its gratitude to InterContinental Lusaka The Urban Hotel Lusaka Posh Media The Agency, The Hotel and Catering Association of Zambia Moses Mtonga Photography for their contributions to the successful hosting of the event.
