The Volunteer Cruise Ship Ambassadors - Airlie Beach

The purpose of the Volunteer Cruise Ship Ambassador Program is to give each and every passenger a warm welcome to the Whitsundays.

The Volunteer Cruise Ship Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about promoting the Whitsundays coordinated through Tourism Whitsundays. The program was established in 2004 as an initiative of the Airlie Beach Chamber of Commerce. Judi and Keith Dunn established and managed the program for the first 10 years. Five years ago, Brian Richardson took the reins. Recently the program has come to sit under the umbrella of Tourism Whitsundays

The volunteer ambassadors meet every cruise ship which anchors in the Whitsundays, they are at the forefront of welcoming passengers to Airlie Beach, providing maps, local information, answering questions and much more. The Ambassador Program started out by welcoming only 5 cruise ships in 2004. This number has increased 1,200% to welcoming 60 cruise ships in 2019. The group of loyal volunteer's have been there every step of the way ensuring our visiting cruise ship guests get a warm welcome and a wealth of local knowledge.

What a treat! ✨ Our Cruise Ambassadors were thoroughly spoilt at Coral Sea Pavilion last week.

From personalised menus and special touches to a delicious spread of food, flowing beverages and those incredible Coral Sea views, it was the perfect afternoon in paradise 🌴☀️

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Coral Sea Resort Hotel for welcoming our Ambassadors and hosting us in such style! 🩵

Last week we jumped on board with Airlie Beach Transfers for an action-packed famil 🚌

We got a behind-the-scenes look at what they offer visitors to the region and saw firsthand what makes The Whitsundays so special from the mainland 🌏

We stopped in at Cape Gloucester for a look around, then headed to Sollos Agave for a delicious drink and a sneak peek behind the scenes at all the incredible work they're doing! We can't wait to come back once they're officially open! ☀️

A huge thank you to team at Airlie Beach Transfers & Tours for hosting the day, and for the ice-cold beverages, awesome stories and amazing hospitality along the way! 🙌

What a great day out for our Ambassadors earlier this week! A big thank you to Brooke and Katie for a wonderful tour of Above and Below Gallery, featuring beautiful art, a lovely morning tea and a cheeky mimosa or two. Each Ambassador was gifted their own personalised goody bag🥂

We followed it up with lunch at Jubilee Tavern, with a big shout out to the team, who made sure we were spoiled with a delicious lunch, drinks and amazing service. What a fabulous way to spend a Tuesday ✨
