Today is World Shorebirds Day.
I added a photograph of the Beach Stone Curlew I photographed on Bribie Island. This bird is threatened by frequent disturbance of its roost site.
World Shorebirds Day 2026 is celebrated on September 6, with the Global Shorebird Count taking place from September 1 to 7, 2026.
The purpose is to raise awareness of shorebird conservation, fragile wetland/coastal ecosystems, and incredible migration patterns 🥰
How to Participate: Visit a local site, count shorebirds, and submit your checklists on eBird by sharing them with the username
