Our 18 Day - Convoy to the Cape is done and dusted for 2026!

What an epic adventure with an awesome group of people.

The roads were as great as they could be for the cape, weather was on our side, especially at chilli beach which is renound for crazy winds, great sites seen, and bucket list items ticked.

I could go on but it is really an event you need to experience in person. Keep an eye on page for when next year's dates are confirmed, or message me your email address to be informed of the next epic
Cape trip!

As usual, a big thank you to those who tagged along and check out some of our awesome moments .. and in no particular order ...

Last free day up at the top today before we turn south, so a round of historical site seeing was on the cards.

Visiting the DC3 crash site, the fuel dumps along the air strip and the Beaufort Bomber Crash site are some of the easy to visit, and interesting historical locations to stop in at.

The Douglas C-47 / DC-3 transport plane (registration VH-CXD), operated by Australian National Airways (ANA) under military courier contract, departed Archerfield in Brisbane bound for New Guinea. While attempting a pre-dawn landing in dark, low-visibility conditions at Higgins Field around 5:18 AM, the aircraft clipped the tree canopy short of the runway and crashed into the bush.

The Australian-built Bristol Beaufort Mk VIII (serial number A9-190) was an RAAF twin-engine torpedo bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. Shortly after departing Higgins Field, the aircraft suffered a port (left) engine failure. The crew turned back for an emergency landing, but due to insufficient hydraulic braking pressure on touchdown, the aircraft ran off the airstrip into the surrounding scrub.

Both sites can be visited today along dirt tracks, with quite a large amount of debris remaining to this day.

Be sure to add them to your list when youre next in the area.

Part 2 of the Pre-Adventure Adventure.

Swapping beaches for bushland and waterfalls.

Exiting the beaches hitting the black-top again, the bull bar is pointed towards Ingham making the first detour of the day. Destination - Wallaman Falls. The tallest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere. the waterfall features a sheer, uninterrupted plunge of 268 metres (879 feet) down a steep cliff into a 20-metre-deep pool at the base.

The hike down to the base, approx 2km. The hike UP approx 2km! RIP to me.

Next on the stops was camp, Blencoe Falls Camping Area in the Kirrama Ranges seemed like the perfect stop. A beautiful creekside camp utop the mountains.

On the way through to Highway 1/The Savannah Way a stop at Blencoe Falls Lookout is a must. Definitely the most stunning Falls on my list.

Ready and set in Cairns now, its just awaiting D-Day for the Cape! Bring it on!

As usual, enjoy a few more snaps from the trip 😁

With the Cape York adventure kicking off soon, the pre-adventure adventure is well and truly underway. Making the way north at a slow pace I am taking in a few of the forgotten backroads. Having started out west, I am back on the coast ... actually camped on the beach listening to the waves roll in, just south of Townsville, as I type this.

Check out some of the photos of the Journey so far... See you on the next adventure πŸ€™

Who has a favourite brand of tyre?

Thanks to Hema Maps for the recommendation to try these. I have been running these kumho MT71's for about 1.5 years now, with regular balancing and rotations they are wearing exceptionally well and still provide great offroad grip. Road noise is ramping up, but thats expected. Currently about the 45k km mark, and about to put them through their 2nd Cape York trip.

What tyres are you running?
