Congratulations Ngali! 🏆🎉🎬

At the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts awards, better known as the AACTAs, Dubbo’s Ngali Shaw was named the inaugural winner of the Brian Walsh Emerging Talent award.

Named in honour of the late TV executive who died last year, the award was instigated and funded by Nicole Kidman, and includes $50000 to go towards career development.

The criteria for the award says it ‘recognises the innovation, dedication, and passion exhibited by individuals who are in the early stages of their acting careers.’

This International Women's Day, FW - Future Women invites you to join us for an event that celebrates and amplifies the voices of First Nations women.

As part of the oldest continuous culture in the world, First Nations women have been at the forefront of change for tens of thousands of years. Their wisdom, resilience and leadership have played a crucial role in shaping our nation. In light of recent setbacks, their contribution is now more important than ever.

Reflecting on the International Women’s Day theme: "Count Her In," we acknowledge the significant progress made both domestically and internationally. However, women still encounter substantial obstacles in achieving equal participation in the economy.

The speaker lineup, featuring prominent First Nations voices, will share their stories, experiences and insights, as we move the conversation around advancing equality and fostering understanding forward.

Date: Friday, 8 March, 2024

Time: 7:00 - 9:00am

Venue: Four Seasons, 650 Lonsdale St, The Rocks| Gadigal Country | SYDNEY

Congratulations to artist Dylan Mooney who won the 2023 Brisbane Portrait Prize. We are fortunate to hold two of Dylan's artworks in our collection, which featured prominently in our 2019 exhibition, Plantation Voices: Contemporary Conversations with Australian South Sea Islanders.
"As an artist with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander heritage, it is important to me to continue to represent and connect to all my cultural identities through my artwork," wrote Dylan in 2019. More about the creation of this artwork entitled, 'Stop and Stare' on our blog. https://ow.ly/tvGy50PUTcn
