Hide-and-seek, reef edition 👀

Stingrays are masters of camouflage, often settling into the sand with only their eyes visible, so spotting one gliding across the reef feels extra special.

And those blue spots? Pretty hard to miss once it decides to make an appearance 🌊

Humpback whales are in the waters of Cairns! 🐋

Every year during whale season, these incredible giants migrate through the Great Barrier Reef. Fun fact: humpback whales can weigh up to 40 tonnes and still leap completely out of the water in spectacular breaches!

🐟 FISH ID SERIES 🐟

Meet the sleek and sneaky Trumpetfish!

With its long, pipe-like body and pointed snout, the trumpetfish is a master of disguise on the reef. These clever hunters often hover vertically among corals or sea fans, blending in perfectly before striking unsuspecting prey in a flash!

💡 Fun fact: Trumpetfish sometimes “shadow” larger fish to stay hidden while they hunt—talk about using your surroundings to your advantage!

Keep your eyes peeled next time you're on the reef… you might spot one drifting like a stick in the current 👀
