Do you know the history of the Kalamunda Post Office?

Erected in 1921 at 37 Railway Rd where the mail receiver now stands outside Kalamunda Central Shopping Centre, the Post Office was relocated to the Kalamunda History Village in 1975. You can still visit it there today!

This building housed the first official District Post Office, and the postmistress was Miss Ethel Chambers. When opened it was only a small manually operated telephone switchboard; 11 residents had private boxes.

This office was superseded by the present Barber St premises in 1972.

Have you visited the newest art exhibition at the Zig Zag Gallery, Re/place?

Re/place examines how physical and emotional journeys reshape artistic identity, particularly through the lens of women navigating new territories both geographically and creatively. Diane Keating and Nadia Rasheed both bring process-driven approaches that emphasise the journey itself as much as the destination.

Trail Spotlight: Whistlepipe Gully

Whistlepipe Gully flows down the edge of a large granite formation, running as a waterfall. The section of the trail near the falls is also a superb vantage point from which to see the Swan Coastal Plain, with the city of Perth visible in the distance. Take a picnic and a rug as there are lots of lovely spots to sit by the creek.

Diane Keating and Nadia Rasheed's Re/place opens tonight!

This collaborative exhibition explores the transformative power of place in shaping
artistic identity, featuring two artists whose work examines the intersection of journey,
belonging, and identity.

Through complementary yet distinct approaches, Diane and
Nadia invite audiences to witness the rebirth of artistic identity within new geographical
and cultural contexts.

Re/place examines how physical and emotional journeys reshape artistic identity,
particularly through the lens of women navigating new territories both geographically
and creatively.

Both artists bring process-driven approaches that emphasise the journey
itself as much as the destination, creating a dialogue between personal narrative and
universal experience.

Tonight’s sunset over Perth was next level.

Perth photographer captured these from Lions Lookout in Lesmurdie… and by the looks of it, autumn skies are just hitting different right now.

It was one of those blink-and-you-miss-it moments that makes you wish you pulled over and soaked it in.
