I like Aizome (Japanese indigo dying). This colour is taking out from the plant called Tadeai. Tokushima produces almost all the Sukumo (dense colouring material made from Tadeai leaves) in Japan. I was very happy to see Tadeai plants on this trip. They were still about 20cm height. In August when they reach about 60cm, they harvest then spend about four more months to go through several processes to make Sukumo. This is the reason why real Aizome products are not cheap but there is something I love about this blue. Do any of my fellow travellers still have your own designed Aizome items??

Shikoku Tokushima has more than Ohenro 88 Temple walk and ramen. With my rent a car, I visited Iya valley (vine bridges & peeing boy) then to Mt Tsurugi. My highlight was climbing & walking along the ridge of Tsurugi san. I’m sure I’ll be back here for more walks and ramen…

Can anyone guess where I am in Japan?
I walked one temple to another temple then to another yesterday and maybe some more today for my new walking tour itinerary. This town has first 17 of 88 temple pilgrimage and it also has one of the best ramen in Japan!!

Sakura is tough. This one stands right in the middle of Tokyo in front of the mont-bell shop. Right now, it has green leaves then their colour changes to reddish orange in November. Through the coldest months December to March, bare naked…then pink flowers appear for about 10 day. I have my Classic Sakura tour 2027 ready to capture these 10 days at my favourite places in Japan. Is anyone interested?? www.rikistoursjapan.com.au/classic-sakura-tour.html

Finally, those bizen-yaki we made in Kurashiki last November was fired and delivered to Sydney. It was Autumn there then and now it’s autumn here. I’ll send them to my fellow travellers and I hope they still remember this.

Classic Sakura Tour - Kanazawa
Too many of Sakura pictures? Last 2 nights here in Kanazawa, I took so many pictures. At one point, I stopped thinking & taking pictures then I started to enjoy even more. After all, it’s so much better and more beautiful to see in real. I’ll take another 10 travelers next 🌸 season, please do consider 😉 Have a good Saturday!!
