I like Aizome (Japanese indigo dying). This colour is taking out from the plant called Tadeai. Tokushima produces almost all the Sukumo (dense colouring material made from Tadeai leaves) in Japan. I was very happy to see Tadeai plants on this trip. They were still about 20cm height. In August when they reach about 60cm, they harvest then spend about four more months to go through several processes to make Sukumo. This is the reason why real Aizome products are not cheap but there is something I love about this blue. Do any of my fellow travellers still have your own designed Aizome items??
