If you’re flying with a 1 year old, READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOARD… 👇🏼

When we flew with our 1 year old for the first time, the airline encouraged families with young children to board first, so we did.

We had also brought A LOT of hand luggage and wanted to make sure there was enough room in the overhead lockers for our travel stroller.

Now, look… we actually considered boarding last. 😂

We knew letting her run around the airport and burn off some energy before getting on the plane was probably the better option.

But in the moment, the stress of “What if we don’t get room for the stroller?!” took over…

And we decided overhead locker space was more important.

I can tell you now…

IT DEFINITELY WASN’T. 😂

We ended up getting on the plane with our 1 year old 40 minutes before takeoff and had to keep her entertained while everyone else boarded.

And if you’ve ever travelled with a 1 year old, you know that asking them to sit still for 40 minutes before the flight has even started is basically asking for trouble. 🫠

What we’d do differently:
One parent boards first to get the bags/stroller sorted, while the other stays behind with the toddler.

Let them walk.
Let them explore.
Let them burn ALL that energy.

Then board as late as you reasonably can.

Obviously, every airline has different boarding procedures, but this is one of those things we learnt from experience that I wish someone had told us before our first flight.

Some questionable decisions have been discontinued, a few character flaws are still under investigation, but overall… performance has significantly improved 🤭

10/10 would recommend the update 💁‍♀️
