Blyde River Canyon, South Africa 🇿🇦

The Blyde River Canyon is a 26 km long canyon located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is one of the larger canyons on Earth but much smaller than of the Grand Canyon and the Fish River Canyon. Unlike the Grand and Fish River Canyon, the Blyde River Canyon is a "green canyon" that is dominated by subtropical vegetation. The canyon forms part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve.

The Blyde River Canyon passes a rock formation known as the "Three Rondavels". So named as the formation resembles three African-style houses or rondavels. This canyon is part of the Panorama Route. This route starts at the town Graskop and includes God's Window, the Pinnacle and Bourke's Luck Potholes.

An African Wild Dog trying to listen for his pack while out hunting in the rain.

Sometimes, while out hunting, things get chaotic and members of the pack split up in pursuit of what they perceive the "easy" target is. When they fail they try and locate the rest of the pack members by sounds, either by a continual low hooping locations call, or the "chatter" and tsi-tsi-tsi calls of excitement while feasting on a successful hunt.
