🦖 Found this cute little fellow crossing crossing in front of us on our way to Cape Peron, the most northern point of the Shark Bay Peninsula.
The Thorny Devil (Moloch Horridus) is one of Australia’s most iconic little desert characters. With its spiky armour, slow, quirky walk, and prehistoric appearance, it looks far more intimidating than it really is. Despite its fierce looks, it’s completely harmless and spends its days wandering the outback in search of ants—thousands of them! Perfectly adapted to life in the harsh Australian desert, the Thorny Devil is always a favourite wildlife encounter and a real treat to photograph ❤️

🔥 Looking for a quick winter getaway?
Escape the cold and discover the magic of Karijini National Park, one of Western Australia's most spectacular destinations. Just a short drive from Newman, this peaceful oasis of ancient gorges, crystal-clear rock pools and striking red landscapes is the perfect place to recharge, soak up the sunshine and reconnect with nature.
We're just on our way back from our second Karijini photography workshop of the season, and the conditions have been nothing short of spectacular—30°C the other day, with daytime temperatures averaging 23–26°C and cool, comfortable nights between 7–12°C. It's hard to imagine a better place to spend winter.
If Karijini has been on your bucket list, we'd love to show you around. Contact the team at Blue Tongue Photography Tours on +61 414 330 629, email [email protected], or visit https://bluetonguephototours.com.au/ to learn more about our upcoming photography workshops.

Just a man and his camera — exploring Karijini one frame at a time!
Back up in this little slice of paradise this week, exploring new ground and rediscovering old favourite places. There’s something truly special about this place. I’ve been coming here every year for the past 15 years and, still, every visit reveals a different light, a new composition, and another reminder of just how beautiful and incredible Western Australia’s outback really is 💥🔥
If Karijini is on your bucket list, we have just one last spot available this August on our final Karijini workshop for 2026… It won’t last long before it’s gone!

Captured these beauties on our way down from Karijini last week during a doors-off aerial photography session over Shark Bay's iconic World Heritage trio. 🔥
There's something truly special about seeing this landscape from above. The endless turquoise shallows, winding sandbars, and untouched coastline create abstract canvas that simply can't be appreciated from the ground.
Big Lagoon, The Tree, and the Salt Mines' striking colours, intricate patterns, and sheer scale never cease to amaze me. It's one of the many reasons I never get tired of photographing Western Australia. ✈️📷.

Karijini... where the magic happen 🔥🔥🔥
Dales Gorge is one of Karijini National Park’s most popular and photogenic locations, featuring towering red rock walls, crystal-clear pools, and ancient geological formations dating back more than two billion years. Home to iconic Fortescue Falls, Fern Pool, and Circular Pool, Dale gorge offers a spectacular blend of rugged outback scenery and tranquil oasis-like landscapes, making it a favourite destination for photographers and nature lovers alike!

Nambung National Park 📍
I've been missing those soft pink clouds and magical twilight colours over the past three months.
Our Karijini season is back, and with winter comes crisp, clear nights and some of the best conditions for astrophotography in the Pilbara, along the Coral Coast and in Northwest WA. We've already lined up a few nightscape photography outings over the next couple of months at the Pinnacles, Kalbarri, Karijini National Park, and across the South Kimberley.
Looking forward to spending more nights under the stars, chasing gorgeous sunsets and twilight, photographing the Milky Way, and exploring some of Western Australia's most spectacular landscapes. ✨

Looking forward to heading back to Kalbarri in a few weeks to shoot under the next moon cycle at Nature’s Window 🔥💥
As a landscape photographer, Nature’s Window and the Skywalk are some of those iconic spots where the landscape really comes alive early in the morning, at sunset, and after dark for me — especially under a clear night sky!
Western Australia truly offers some of the best dark sky locations in the world, and Kalbarri is no exception ✨
