We always love hearing from our guests while they are travelling, and this little message from Jane & Evan after their
day at Tsodilo Hills says it beautifully:

“Today was Tsodilo Hills. Magnificent. I was completely unprepared for how stunning it would be.”

And looking at these photographs, we can understand why.
Rising dramatically from the surrounding Kalahari landscape, Tsodilo is a place that feels quite unlike anywhere else in Botswana. Ancient rock paintings, stone faces and quiet pathways reveal traces of people who have lived, travelled and gathered here for thousands of years.

With their guide leading the way, Jane & Evan spent the day exploring the hills, discovering the rock art and taking in the remarkable landscape around them.

Safari in Botswana is so often associated with its wildlife, but moments like these remind us just how much more there is to discover. A very special day at one of Botswana’s most extraordinary places.

Thank you for sharing these lovely moments with us, Jane & Evan.

What an incredible 24 hours in the Mababe Concession.

When the bush tells you to listen…

Turn the sound up for this one.
Those birds calling in the background are giving an alarm call, letting everyone within earshot know that a predator is nearby. And in this case, they had very good reason.

A beautiful female cheetah and her three youngsters, spotted during our time in the Mababe Concession.

It is one of the things we love most about being on safari. It is not always about what you can see. Sometimes the bush gives you clues first. A call, a movement, a sudden change in behaviour. You simply have to listen.

The bush is always talking.

The perks of living on the doorstep of the Okavango Delta

A rather lovely close encounter with this gentle giant on a Sunday boat trip into the lower Delta.

There is something very special about seeing an elephant from the water, quietly going about its day while you sit back and simply enjoy the moment.

Just another reminder of how fortunate we are to call this beautiful corner of Botswana home.

Mr Guide… have there been any giraffe sightings lately?”

We love hearing from our guests while they are on safari, and Jane & Evan certainly had plenty to share from their time at Tsowa:

“I can hardly sum it up. We saw so many elephants! And lots of baby elephants!! So many gazelle, impala, kudus, baboons and vervet monkeys. So many different birds! Warthogs, black-backed and side-striped jackals, zebras!

We parked on the side of a drive and let an enormous herd, at least 300 Cape buffalo with lots of babies, surge around us. Breathtaking! We even saw an aardwolf, which is a very rare sighting in the park. But perhaps the highlight was when the only other person on our drive asked, ‘Have there been any giraffe sightings recently?’ The guide replied, ‘Not for several days.’ The words were literally barely out of his mouth as we rounded a bend and stopped for an enormous male giraffe!

Nothing can prepare you for seeing one in the wild!”
We couldn’t have written that ending better ourselves.

Currently in Victoria Falls
There are places that leave a lasting impression, and Victoria Falls is certainly one of them.

The sound of rushing water, the mist rising from the gorge and that beautiful golden afternoon light. It is a wonderful reminder of just how impressive this part of Southern Africa is.

Victoria Falls also pairs beautifully with a Botswana safari, adding a few days of something completely different before or after time in the wilderness.

And when the view looks like this, sometimes you simply have to stop and take it all in

World Elephant Day 🐘

Today we celebrate one of Botswana’s most remarkable residents.

To spend time watching elephants in the wild is to appreciate just how intelligent, social and wonderfully individual they are. From the smallest calves keeping close to their mothers to great herds gathering at the water, they are an extraordinary part of Botswana’s wilderness.

On World Elephant Day, we celebrate them, the landscapes they call home, and the importance of protecting both for generations to come.

Happy World Elephant Day from Botswana. 🇧🇼🐘

Another day, another beautiful morning game drive with Bush Ways' Mababe Tented Camp

A cheetah taking in the morning from the perfect vantage point, clear blue skies and that wonderful golden Botswana light. Sometimes the most memorable safari moments are simply about having the time to stop, watch and enjoy the view.

Housekeeping has gone a little wild in the Okavango Delta...

A few curious lions discovered a mop at the lodge and decided it was far too interesting to leave alone. What followed was a very entertaining game of keep-away, until one young male decided the mop was officially his and made a run for it.

A lovely reminder that even lions have a playful side.
Captured by our colleagues in the Okavango Delta, and definitely not how the lodge expected the housekeeping supplies to be used!

Lions playing as the African sun dips below the horizon. Just another magical evening in Botswana.
