A little drama in the bush, and a mother's instincts save the day!

This brown hyaena was clearly on the lookout for an easy meal when it decided to try its luck with a litter of side-striped jackal pups.

But mum was having none of it!

Quick to spot the approaching danger, the mother jackal began sounding her alarm calls, warning her little ones that trouble was heading their way. The pups wasted no time disappearing into the safety of their den, leaving the hyaena empty-handed!

It's moments like these that remind us just how alert and resourceful animals need to be to survive in the wild.

Brown hyaenas are fascinating and rather elusive animals, so seeing one in action is always a special encounter. And watching a mother jackal protect her young makes the sighting even more memorable.

A lucky escape for the little ones, and no easy dinner for this opportunistic hyaena!

Leopards, lions, wild dogs and cheetahs! Just look at these incredible sightings from Dulini Daunara Safari Camp in the Okavango Delta!

When our colleagues share photographs like these, we simply have to pass them on to you. What a wonderful reminder of the extraordinary wildlife encounters that make a Botswana safari so special!

In the Okavango Delta, sharing isn't always on the menu! 🐾

A fascinating moment captured by one of our colleagues while out on safari in the Okavango Delta.

A group of spotted hyenas were busy enjoying a meal when one decided to grab a piece and make a quick getaway. Clearly, some things are just too good to share!

Hyenas are remarkable animals, with complex social relationships, powerful jaws and plenty of character. Watching their interactions in the wild offers a wonderful glimpse into the everyday dramas of life in the bush.

It's these unscripted moments that make every safari so memorable. You never quite know what nature has in store.

For Botswana’s 60th, we wanted to mark the occasion in a way that felt meaningful, hands-on and close to home.

Together with the Feed A Child programme in Chanoga, our team set about creating a playground for the children. And when we say creating it, we really mean it. Digging, carrying, positioning tyres, painting and putting everything into place ourselves.

There were endless hours of manual labour, plenty of dust, sweat and sore muscles, but also a great deal of laughter and some wonderful team moments along the way. TT quickly became our champion digger, although everyone rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty.

That was perhaps the most rewarding part for us. Rather than simply arranging for the work to be done, our team was physically part of building something the children could enjoy. Every brightly painted tyre and footprint carries a little bit of that shared effort.

And then came the best moment of all: opening the playground gates and seeing the children’s faces.
Their excitement made every aching muscle worthwhile.

A very special project for our team, and a small but heartfelt way to celebrate 60 years of the country we are so proud to call home. 🇧🇼

A country we are immensely proud to call home, shaped by its people, its extraordinary wilderness and a deep respect for the natural world.

For 60 years, Botswana has followed its own remarkable path, while protecting so much of what makes this country special. From the waterways of the Okavango Delta to the vast Kalahari, it remains a place that continues to inspire us every day.

A lioness keeping a watchful eye while her little ones tumble and play around her, full of curiosity and confidence. For the cubs, it is all part of growing up. For those lucky enough to sit quietly and watch, it is a wonderful glimpse into the gentler side of life in the wild.

Just another special day in Botswana.

Happy World Tourism Day! 🌍

This year’s theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” has us thinking about what technology can and can’t do.

AI can tell you a lot about Africa.

But it can’t tell you what that first sundowner tastes like after an incredible afternoon on safari, which camp just feels right, or the stories you’ll still be telling years later.

That’s where we come in.

Technology may be changing the way we travel, but we still believe the best journeys begin with real people, first-hand knowledge and a genuine love of Africa.

And judging by this lot, we’re still having a pretty good time doing it!
