The Calgary Canoe Club offers a year round program in Sprint Canoe and Kayaking. The program is divided into a seasonal session (on water), May 1 to October 31 and an off-season session, November to April. Our sprint racing program is one of many organizations in Canada that is governed by the Canadian Kayak Canoe Association (CKC). There are over 6500 members across Canada, ranging from beginners
to Olympic team athletes. Our paddlers compete in races locally, provincially, and nationally. The Calgary Canoe Club has had a competitive Sprint Racing Program since 1968 and has always promoted a safe, fun, and educational environment for young sprint racers to develop their paddling skills. A minimum time commitment for a new sprint paddler is typically three times per week and five times per week for a second year paddler. All other paddlers with more than two years experience are encouraged to join the senior training group which regularly sets its sights on races such as the Western Canadian and National Championships. Some of our Senior members strive for higher goals such as the Junior or Senior World Championships.
