Well holy paddles batman!
County Waters Kayaking has made the top 3 in the nominations for the home business category. Home business you say? Well I don't live on the water or at a lake and as everyone knows, Im all over the place with the kayaks. So ultimately my home is my office. It's where I book all my guests tours, have folks pick up their rentals, and store all the equipment. Im so grateful home is right smack in the middle of all the pretty lakes we paddle on.
Thank you for the consideration for the Best Home Based Business Award this year. Winners of this and the other award categories from the Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce will be announced at the Gala October 23 at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.

GLOW IN THE DARK KAYAKING!

Come discover evening fun with a fully guided, all-inclusive, illuminated adventure on Lacombe Lake (5 minutes from Blackfalds)

We provide the lit up kayaks and everything you need. Bright lights, lots of laughter, and a spectacular experience!

Open to beginners and everyone that loves fun, we take you on a sunset paddle around the lake then continue as the moon rises while the water glows all around us.

Two hour tour. Meet at 7:15pm, launch by 730pm, paddle until 930pm.
Reservations are required.
$75/person.

An escape from guiding tours this weekend, my best friend and I ran away for an overnight kayak camping trip on the North Saskatchewan River.

We launched at 11am from Constable Chelsea Robinson Park just outside Genesee AB. We paddled for approximately 30km in 4.5 hours before finding our spot for the evening. We pitched our tents, enjoyed each other's company, ate dinner, then watched the sun set. A stunning view. We then turned in.

It's midnight, we are currently camped on a pretty island just up stream of Devon AB. The last hour has consisted of torrential rain, big wind, and lots of flashes and booms from lightening. The river below is not a worry as we have planned accordingly and pitched camp well away from it in case levels rise. Our tents are dry.

Our friendly neighboring beaver is completely unbothered by the current weather and continues to chomp on neighboring shoreline shrubbery.

An excellent trip thus far. Perhaps we add this route to our 2027 trip plans. We shall see.

Back to bed for this paddle gal, we have another 40km to go tomorrow.

All tours are 2 hours and include all equipment, basic instruction, and are fully guided. Beginner/first timer friendly. No swimming, tipping, or silly shenanigans.

So that happened this morning. Im realistic about my chances with so many outstanding small businesses and home based business in the Lacombe district. The competition is fierce. It's still nice to be recognized though. The Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce creates such a positive community of support for businesses and have encouraged me to keep County Waters Kayaking going strong. I love what I do. I love that I am sharing the beauty of the area with so many people. Mostly I'm so happy that someone out there saw something in me and my little business. Thank you for believing in me and for making it all happen. Feeling blessed. Overwhelming to be honest. ❤️
