Hoodoos was founded nearly 20 years ago out of an intense passion to make a difference in my community.

In 2012, at 5 weeks old, I strapped my first born to the front of me and hosted our first of what would be many races and events in the years to come. Only 20 months later I’d strap a second baby to me and keep adventuring on.

These boys have grown up being our helpers… for many years they were just “helping”, if you catch my drift, but these days it’s the real deal. Moving bikes, being leaders with the little kids camps, general lugging stuff around, they continue to be my side kicks to this day.

It isn’t always easy, but having my kids be a part of this business, to learn what hard work looks like, to help in our community and feel the reward of making a difference, is immeasurable, and worth every reminder that the broom won’t sweep itself;)

Thank you to these boys, who were a huge help to their old mama this weekend. And to all those friends and family who are always there to offer sleepovers or pick ups, and all the acts of kindness that help us out.

It takes a village and we sure have a wonderful village that we feel blessed to be a part of.

Hoodoos was founded nearly 20 years ago out of an intense passion to make a difference in my community.

Local legend Howie Richardson will be hosting a talk titled "Fifty years of self-propelled exploration in the Okanagan" at Penticton Okanagan College, this coming Monday the 24th at 7pm.

The event will be held in the Lecture Theatre, where his lavishly illustrated talk about hiking, climbing, skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and biking plays out.

Howie is deeply rooted in the history and development of outdoor recreation in the area. We wouldn’t miss this… see you there!
