Today was a good day at the Louvre museum.
I could visit 2 great exhibitions: "Revoir Cimabue"
A new look at Cimabue,at the origins of Italian painting 🖼
The exhibition is organised to celebrate the come back of his famous "Maesta," which has just been restored, and the acquisition of a heretofore-unseen panel named "Christ Mocked", rediscovered in 2019, and classified as a French National Treasure!
This exhibition will end May 12th.
Entrance fees included in your entrance tickets.

The second exhibition is named "Louvre Couture,Objets d'arts,objets de mode"

A new perspective on decorative arts through the prism of contemporary fashion design.
65 designs are displayed from the most famous fashion designers and the most iconic fashionhouses:Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel,Givenchy,Louis Vuitton...
You still have some time to visit that extraordinary exhibition but it might be very crowded from next month.
It ends July 25th

Great sunset tonight at the Louvre museum.
Today, I'm exploring the Dutch painters department. After my trip to Amsterdam, I'm going to admire Dutch painters 🎨 exhibited here within the Louvre, such as Rembrandt,Vermeer
Since The Louvre is open until 9pm tonight (like every Wednesday), it is almost empty right now!

The primary purpose of my trip to Amsterdam was to visit the Van Gogh Museum,and it certainly did not disappoint.👌
Be aware that you need to book your tickets in advance, online tickets are available!

Just 5 hours from Paris by car,Amsterdam is a great place for a citybreak(or a 2-day tour from Paris.
Pack with museums ( Ridjikmuseum and Van Gogh's plus the house of Rembrandt ), its canals, and its charming districts, it is doable within 2 days.

The celebrated Hospices de Beaune-Museum Hotel-Dieu is a former hospital, founded in 1443 by Nicola Rolin.
He was the Chancellor of the Duke of Burgungy.
It is famous for its magnificent glazed tiles.
The Museum shelters the famous polyptich of the Last Judgement by Rogier Van der Weyden (1443-1441).
The next wine auction sales will take place on November 17,2024.Man festivities will take place all weekend long.

Stopping by the city of Nice on my way to Monaco Menton and Italy (Dolceacqua) on the footsteps of the impressionist 🎨 Claude Monet, who stayed in Dolceacqua in 1884. He painted the celebrated medieval bridge "ponte vecchio"

The palace of Versailles.
A former hunting lodge commissioned by King Louis XIII in 1623 and became the palace we all know today thank to his successor, his son, King Louis XIV known as the "Sun King " hence his emblem everywhere in Versailles:

The famous villa Almerico-Capra, better known under the name of "La Rotonda".Not To be missed during a trip to Venice👍
It was a "villa suburbana", a kind of country house.
This is why it was (and it is still the case today) located outside the city of Vicenza ( Venetia region in the north/east of Italy).
It was built for residential and leisure purposes.
The Paolo Almerico commissioned the celebrated architect Andrea Palladio (1508-1580), who built it in only 4 years (1566-1570).
It has become an iconic building, a source of inspiration for generations of architects,especially in the United States 🇺🇸 Think about the White House, the Capitol and of course The house of the 3rd American president,Thomas Jefferson:Monticello in Virginia.
La villa Rotonda près de la ville de Vicence est très facilement accessible.
Elle se trouve juste à quelques kilomètres du centre.
A ne pas manquer si vous allez comme moi de Venise à Milan en voiture.
Une icône de l'architecture moderne👍

Great weather last week in Venice during my road trip in Italy. We've been very lucky indeed 😊
