Jennifer Orkin Lewis and I are now in Marrakech after over 3 weeks in Morocco teaching our UpTrek retreats
Here’s some of what I painted
Folds on fabric and water were requested from me on both retreats and I found myself embracing my fashion illustration roots more than usual!
I am very tired and wish I could be like I dream of Jeanie and blink myself home
One more day and we’re planning to go tomorrow to draw at El Fenn Hotel Marrakech !

We had a great morning going to a small, beautiful Medina for some shopping - a lesson with Jennifer Orkin Lewis on how to simply draw buildings and then gayle kabaker conquered her fear of heights going on the cable car ride to have the view of of Agadir. She succumbed to peer pressure because she didn’t want to be the only one not going up and she did great. We got some beautiful photos in the Medina and Gayle did her usual of going up to someone she wanted to photograph - showing a painting on her Instagram of a man that she painted so that the older man would let her photograph him close up.
then half the group opted to come home and the other half who wanted to shop went to the biggest Suk in Africa! With all of the same things as the Medina in Marrakesh, those of us who have been in Marrakesh didn’t feel the need for more shopping.
we were very happy to get home to Atlas Kasbah Ecolodge Morocco ❤️❤️
and now we don’t leave again until the retreat is over on Friday

If you think it looks like we’re having fun painting in Morocco,we can tell you that our UpTrek retreat at Luxury Retreat Venue in Portugal is an equally magical experience in a completely different way

With Chloe Ward for morning YOGA and evening, Yinyoga, yoga Nidra, and meditation, and just her wonderful energy along with her private Reiki healing gives an energy to our retreat that is quite magical
The experience of being with the healing horses, drawing them - connecting with them ( have you ever put your heart against horse’s heart, ?!) and being with them as a group is also unlike anything we’ve ever experienced
We were both incredibly expired by the landscape for painting. The staff is amazing. The whole experience is so wonderful. We knew within 24 hours of being there last year that we wanted to come back

Week one of our magical painting retreat in Morocco is complete. Now we rest for a few days and then begin week two! We both love teaching so much and it’s incredibly gratifying to see how our students grow with confidence and ability over the course of the week. Watching friendships form, fears overcome and so much fun had by all …I mean, what more could we ask for?
we’re planning to take a few days off social media and we’ll see you after our next group arrives
We can’t wait to see what we paint over the next few days while we have all the silence and space to create just for ourselves thank you to our incredible partners UpTrek and Atlas Kasbah Ecolodge Morocco for making everything so gloriously perfect
And to Turner Colour Works for all the wonderful acryla gouache that we used during the week and to Strathmore Artist Papers for our soft cover mixed media sketchbooks
