We just wanted to say a huge thank you to one of our super lovely and friendly guests, Helen, for sending us this incredible video of an otter munching on a massive lobster he caught this afternoon here at the Campsite! 🦦🦞

We had a little joke with Helen that we'd been struggling to get a photo of the heron for our static caravan "Heron's Watch". She replied, "Challenge accepted!"

Not only did she capture a cracking photo of the heron, but she also managed to get this amazing video of the otter enjoying his seafood feast!

We really do have the best guests here at Gruinard Bay. ❤️

Celtman Triathlon 2026 ** Is Tomorrow ** Saturday 13 June

The annual Celtman Triathlon takes place tomorrow, bringing competitors and support teams onto roads across Wester Ross and Ross-shire.

The most noticeable impact for local road users will be the 200km cycling stage, involving more than 260 athletes along with their support vehicles.

Cyclists will set off from Shieldaig shortly after 6am, following a clockwise route through Kinlochewe, Gairloch, Braemore Junction, Gorstan Junction and Achnasheen, before returning to finish in Kinlochewe.

Motorists should be prepared for delays throughout the day and may encounter support vehicles parked in unusual locations along the route. Event marshals will be positioned at key points to assist with traffic management and competitor safety.

Captured right here at Gruinard Bay, this magnificent Sea Eagle appears to be getting a stern telling-off from a fearless Seagull. Nature always has a way of surprising us, and moments like this make wildlife watching in the Highlands so special.

☀️ We’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a couple of beautiful sunny days this week here at Gruinard Bay Campsite!

The sunshine was so tempting that Krissy & Dales Mum braved a refreshing dip in the sea — and she wasn’t the only one! Plenty of our guests have been making the most of the glorious weather too. 🌊

We’ve also had guests exploring the bay by sea kayak, paddling around Gruinard Island and taking in the stunning scenery from the water. 🚣‍♀️

A huge thank you to one of our lovely guests for sharing these incredible drone shots with us. We never take this view for granted and feel incredibly lucky to wake up to such breathtaking scenery every day. 💙

It's also been a pleasure catching up with some of our regular guests this week, several of whom have been returning to Gruinard Bay for more than 40 years. We've really enjoyed hearing their memories, sharing stories, and seeing old photographs of the campsite through the decades. It means so much to be part of so many family traditions and treasured holidays. 💙
