How many Michelin star restaurants are in the Lakes? 🤔

An impressive 13! Outstanding food amidst outstanding scenery. Life doesn’t get much better!

Congratulations to 13 restaurants across Cumbria who have all retained their Michelin Stars for 2026.

Cumbria’s culinary offer continues to be recognised at the highest level, with 13 Michelin star restaurants retaining their stars for another year. This includes a number of Cumbria Tourism members, including Allium at Askham Hall, The Cottage In The Wood, Pentonbridge Inn, Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai at Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant and Source at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House.

L'Enclume also retains its three Michelin stars, alongside a Michelin Green Star recognising its commitment to sustainability.

Further congratulations to Rogan & Co, Lake Road Kitchen, The Old Stamp House, Heft, Dog and Gun Inn, The Samling and The Forest Side, which also earned a new Michelin Green Star this year.

In total, Cumbria is still home to 15 Michelin stars, giving the county the highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants outside London!

We have a very exciting announcement: Our final 70th anniversary event will take place on March 8th!

We've teamed up with Countrystride to host a live podcast alongside a la’l exhibition celebrating your stories and memories of the bookshop (including a specially commissioned artwork!), which will be displayed at the event.

Host Dave Felton, will be chatting with Steve Baskerville-Muscutt (former owner of Fred’s Bookshop) and Janet Bagot (involved in education in Ambleside for over 40 years) to discuss the modern history of Ambleside and how the village has changed and shifted culturally over the decades… From Charlotte Mason Alumni, to vegetarian restaurants and Rolling Stones records…
