✨Volunteer travel story✨
"I found The Mighty Roar and the volunteering project in Namibia and I absolutely fell in love.
I had a lot of concerns at the beginning, but Chris and Becky helped me with every single one of them. They replied to all of my 15+ emails and calmed my nerves up until the very moment I landed in Namibia.
The local team picked me and two other volunteers up from the airport, and helped me get some cash and a SIM card. We drove to the Sanctuary where we were greeted by the staff, shown around, and had everything explained to us.
Every day presented something new. It was exciting getting to see all the different species and learning about their individual backgrounds as well as the history those species shared with humans in general. The coordinators were all very friendly, supportive and knowledgeable on each of the animals. They led us through our activities and answered all of our questions.
Free time was mainly spent with the other 50+ volunteers, who were all great people. We played volleyball and several card games. My experience allowed me to make a lot of new friends with people from all over the world and create many great memories. It was a unique and extraordinary experience. I can 100% recommend this. I learned so much about the people, animals, culture and history of Namibia.
There are too many highlights to mention all of them, but one that sticks out to me is the Karaoke night, with everyone dancing, singing along and getting to know each other better. Another was seeing the Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Rhinos and Zebras all in one day. But not to forget, the sunsets in Namibia were truly mesmerising.
Namibia stole my heart and it was absolutely remarkable."
