Not quite the cruise he originally booked… but a wonderful holiday all the same! 🚢💙

Stephen recently set off on his first ever cruise, although low water on the Rhine meant a last-minute change of itinerary.

After considering the alternative offered by Riviera Travel, he decided to go ahead — and I was delighted to receive his feedback when he returned! 🥰

Exploring Cologne, Kinderdijk, Ghent and Nijmegen aboard Riviera Resplendence, he enjoyed lovely destinations, outstanding food and a ship he described as spotless, with a friendly and attentive crew.

🇲🇾🚞 All aboard the Penang Hill Funicular!🌿

Yesterday we swapped the colourful streets of George Town for the cooler heights of Penang Hill, one of the island’s most popular attractions! 🌴

Our adventure began with a ride on the famous funicular railway, climbing steeply through the lush tropical greenery to the top of the hill. And what a ride it was! 🚞🌿

Now, Penang Hill is famous for its spectacular panoramic views across George Town, the coastline and towards mainland Malaysia… but unfortunately, the clouds had other ideas when we arrived! ☁️😂

We were greeted by rather misty conditions, with only the occasional glimpse of the views below. But that’s all part of the adventure!

Thankfully, the clouds gradually began to lift while we were enjoying a lovely lunch at David Brown’s, a charming restaurant perched high above the city, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Just in time for us to enjoy a little more of those famous views! 🍽️🌺😍

One of the things I love about Penang is the contrast — one minute you’re exploring bustling streets filled with temples, street art and food stalls, and the next you’re surrounded by lush tropical rainforest! 🐒

Another wonderful experience to add to our Malaysian adventure! 🇲🇾💙

🇲🇾🌴 Penang…SO much more than beautiful beaches! 😍🌏

What a wonderful day exploring George Town, here on the Malaysian island of Penang! 💙

One of the things I absolutely LOVE about travelling is discovering places where different cultures, traditions and histories come together… and George Town is a perfect example!

This colourful UNESCO World Heritage city is bursting with character, and today we've been discovering some of its highlights…

🛺 A traditional trishaw ride – Such a fun way to experience the bustling streets and soak up the atmosphere!

💙 The Blue Mansion – An absolutely stunning historic mansion with beautiful architecture and a fascinating story behind it.

🏛️ Suffolk House – A gorgeous colonial-era residence where we enjoyed lunch in lovely historic surroundings.

🏮 The streets of George Town – Colourful shophouses, temples, street art and little hidden corners just waiting to be discovered!

And of course, Penang is famous for its FOOD! 🍜😋 With influences from Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, it's a fantastic destination for anyone who loves trying local dishes.

After a long journey from the UK, what a lovely welcome… the stunning PARKROYAL Penang Resort, right on the beachfront! 🌊☀️

Tropical gardens, palm trees, gorgeous sea views… and a HUGE bed fit for a queen! 👑🛏️

Our first stop on a 16-day adventure through Malaysia, Borneo & Singapore — what a place to begin! ✈️🧳

Well done to everyone who guessed! This beauty is taking us on the first leg of our journey… 13 hours to Singapore, followed by another flight to Penang! ✈️

Ahead of us is a 16-day adventure packed with colourful cities, fascinating culture, incredible wildlife and plenty of delicious food! 😍

🌴 Penang — historic George Town, colourful streets and local flavours.
🏙️ Kuala Lumpur — bustling city sights and the spectacular Batu Caves.
🦧 Borneo — exploring Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu, plus visits to see the orangutans and sun bears at Sepilok!
🌺 Singapore — rounding off the tour with iconic sights and beautiful gardens.

🇲🇹☀️ Malta…that’s a wrap ❤️

It's been SO lovely to be back in Malta for a few weeks, and what a fantastic time of year to visit! 😍

October really is a great time to explore the Maltese islands… beautiful autumn sunshine, lovely warm temperatures but without the unbearable summer heat! ☀️🌊

I always LOVE returning to Malta. For such a small island, it's absolutely packed with fascinating history, beautiful scenery, charming little towns and SO much to see and do! 🇲🇹

This time I spent my first week based in Sliema, followed by another week further north in Mellieħa. Two very different locations, each with their own charm, and both great bases for exploring different parts of the island!

And even after visiting Malta so many times, I still manage to discover somewhere new every time I go! 🥰

If Malta isn't already on your travel list, it DEFINITELY deserves a spot! ❤️

🥪🇲🇹 Only in Malta… where your lunch arrives in a BASKET from a balcony!! 🤣🧺

Tucked away down one of Valletta’s little side streets is an absolute GEM called The Submarine… and trust me, you NEED to visit!! 😍

Not only are the sandwiches absolutely AMAZING, but your lunch is literally lowered down to you in a basket from the balcony above!! How brilliant is that?! 😂

And of course, I had to go for a traditional Maltese ftira… OBVS!! 🤤🇲🇹

It was SO good I ended up going back a couple of times during my stay! 🙈

Honestly, it’s little hidden gems like this that I absolutely LOVE discovering when travelling! ❤️
