Bluefin Season – Part 2 🐟

The return of the surface activity!

After returning from the Bluefin Champs in September, it was pretty clear to me that the fish weren’t west.

Don’t get me wrong, we were one of the few that caught a couple of fish down there, but the results of the competition spoke for themselves. For us, local fishing was the order of the day.

We’ve still had a couple quiet days here and there, with some big fish showing up along the way. It was clear the fish were here, not there. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen the Devon fishery return to its usual form, with the action back on the doorstep here in Torbay.

And my God, has it got busy! 😂

Now the cat is well and truest out of the bag, people are realising what we’ve known for years: Torbay, South Devon, has a very good bluefin tuna fishery.

That’s certainly been confirmed recently, with boats from all over the country turning up to fish our local waters.

All three sectors of the bluefin tuna fishery — charter, commercial and private — are now represented in vast numbers here in Torbay, fishing the local waters I’ve called home all my life.

It’s flattering, really. You’d think there was no tuna anywhere else! 😂

Of course, when things get busy, there can be a downside.

Listen, the water is for everyone. I’ve always believed that, and there’s room for all of us out here. We respect each other, and we respect the fishery here. All we ask is that others do the same.

Enough said.

Despite things being pretty stacked out at the moment, we still have some availability into November for Bluefin Tuna Charters aboard Our Joe with myself and Jason.

The next two weeks videos are done and In for you when they go live each weekend and plenty of bits inbetween for you all coming up.

I was going to have a play tomorrow but with a late start my only option and wind creeping in earlier with each update I shall skip it, with the ridiculous price of fuel at the minute (£1.81) getting off will be a waste of time if it’s breezy by lunch.

Back to some shore work it is before a busy weekend of socialising coming up!
