𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗛𝗬𝗣𝗔𝗖 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗕𝗤.
On Monday 7th July 2025 HYPAC (Hartington Young Peoples Activity Club) held there annual summer BBQ. It was created to address the issues of lack of access to facilities, equipment leaders’ skills acquisition and competition for young people in Hartington Village and the surrounding district. It is run by a voluntary dedicated team, School and Parents Parish Council, Village Hall, Parochial Church Council and Hartington Community Group and are supported by Derbyshire Dales, Active Derbyshire, RDSSP and Youth Sports Trust.
As an activity club rather than a sports specific club, there aim is to help young people engage in a wide range of activities that they might not otherwise easily access. There key principles include learning to work together, respecting oneself and others, and developing essential like skills such as confidence, resilience, and the ability to challenge oneself.
They run an annual programme of 30 weeks per year on Monday evenings from 5.30 – 7.30pm for 6 – 12-year-olds. This is a full programme of activities which includes, multi skills and a range of individual and team sports, problem solving and teamwork activities, leadership, and life skills as well as outdoor activities delivered by Lea Green Learning and Development Centre.
They have enjoyed some great activities this year which included, rock climbing, pot holing, canoeing, nature walks, Judo, first aid, obstacle causes , water slides too many to name all. They also supported Altrad on World Environmental Day earlier in the year, collecting litter from around the village of Hartington.
