As a travel professional my work involves much more than planning and booking holidays. Gastronomy tourism differentiates the destination, tells the story of the land and the people and helps create unique memories. For me villa life is, without doubt, a more curated experience than everyday life at home. There’s still shopping and cooking but you embrace local supermarket excursions with excitement and local produce adds to the cultural address. Villa days are not like home days … you’re not feeling obliged to do chores, instead bobbing around in the pool with friends, reading novels and even a bit of art,are introduced to day to day norm. A relaxed environment surrounded by fruit trees and coastal views provide the landscape for snacking, leisurely lunches and apertivos in the late afternoon sun. I have decided that I will introduce villa days at home .. yep this autumn there will be whole days of floating around the house doing a bit of what I fancy … no pool and less sunshine maybe, but this blissful relaxation can be recreated… but of course the 2027 villa holiday is already in the planning!
