Alpoholics are an independent catered chalet company based in Plagne 1800. Like other chalet companies we provide restaurant standard cuisine and a highly personalised service with sought after facilities such as outdoor hot tubs & boot warmers, but what makes us stand out are the extra touches we are able to offer:

Nine years ago I was playing Mario Kart in a BrewDog bar in Leeds and put this photo on Facebook.

A former Alpoholics guest who happened to be working at BrewDog commented underneath: “We should talk about you stocking BrewDog in your lovely chalets.”

Twelve weeks later we announced the world’s first BrewDog chalet honesty bars. .

Since then they’ve been in the fridge on every changeover day, in the hands of thousands of chalet guests, and somewhere in the background of nearly every photo on this account. They’ve backed us when we were much smaller than we are now, been ludicrously generous more times than we can count, and given us experiences and memories we’ll be dining out on for years.

But all good things must come to an end, and so we’re doing something different this coming season, which we’ll share properly very soon.

But first: a huge thank you to everyone at BrewDog who made it work so brilliantly; you definitely know who you are and i’ll always be a fan. Cheers 🍻

So you’ve decided on a catered chalet? Good call. But quick heads up, because this one catches people out: “catered” isn’t a standard, it’s a spectrum;

When you spot a catered chalet that seems cheaper than others, something’s been quietly cut. Usually it’s the food and the pedigree of the chalet staff, which is the whole reason you booked catered in the first place. Or the hot tub that’s never tested and never quite clean. Or the “great location” that turns out to be a 20 minute plod to the lift in your ski boots.

We have crafted Alpoholics to get that stuff right:

>— Menus designed by Thom Bateman and cooked by highly experienced people who actually know what they’re doing and can adapt on the fly.

It’s National Cheese & Wine Day!

🍷 We offer three different complimentary free-flowing wines, sourced from , a wonderful small local wine merchant down the mountain in Aime. Each one is carefully selected at the start of the season to showcase the best of France and pair nicely with our elevated 4 course evening menu.

Everyone chases the “cheap” deal but nobody actually does the maths. Your flights, transfers, lift pass and hire cost the same whether you’re in a grotty apartment or a proper catered chalet. That lot alone is way more than a budget apartment costs. So “self-catered” only really saves you on where you sleep… and half of that you’ll hand straight back to an overpriced resort supermarket anyway.
And that’s before the bit that can really take the gloss off a Ski holiday; the faff. A whole week of shopping in your ski boots, cooking for six when you’re knackered, and washing up while the catered chalet guests next door are in the hot tub. That’s a big chunk of your holiday gone doing the exact chores you came away to escape.
You’ve paid a small fortune to be on that mountain. Spend the time on it, not at the sink. That’s the whole reason we do what we do.
