🇬🇧 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 | Caledonian Travel strongly opposes the introduction of a tourist tax on overnight stays. At a time when households are already facing considerable cost-of-living pressures, we do not believe people should be charged an additional tax simply for enjoying a holiday in the UK.
Our customers already contribute millions of pounds to local economies through spending in hotels, shops, cafés, pubs, attractions and entertainment venues. This supports businesses, sustains jobs and helps communities throughout the year, including during quieter periods.
At Caledonian Travel, we will always work hard to offer the best-quality breaks at the best possible value. However, we do not believe British holidaymakers should be taxed simply for spending time away in their own country.
Adding another charge risks making UK breaks less affordable, discouraging visitors and damaging the very tourism economies the levy is intended to support. We recognise that destinations need continued investment, but taxing overnight visitors is neither the right nor the fairest way to fund it.
Our message is simple:
