Please allow extra time for traffic, parking and walking to Newcastle City Marina so you don’t miss your cruise, and for SUNDAYS main event, many roads are closed and so different modes of transport are recommended, and arriving early is essential!

🌈 A pretty special view from Canny Lass! 🌉✨

We always want to give our passengers the very best experience of the River Tyne, and evenings like this certainly deliver!

Cruising beneath the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, with its spectacular lights reflecting across the river, our passengers had front-row seats to one of the most iconic views in the North East. And judging by the number of phones out, we think they enjoyed it just as much as we did! 📸

There’s something completely different about seeing Newcastle and Gateshead from the river after dark – the bridges illuminated, the Quayside glowing and the city coming alive around you.

This is what evenings aboard Canny Lass are all about. 🧡⚓️

🗺️🚢 We’re really excited about this one!

Today we’ve added what feels like the final piece of our interior refit on board Canny Lass — our brand-new, bespoke River Tyne table maps.

From the very beginning, we wanted Canny Lass to be more than simply a boat trip. We want our passengers to discover the Tyne, understand its story and feel connected to the river as they travel along it.

Our new table maps showcase the River Tyne and some of the fascinating things you’ll encounter along the way — from our iconic bridges and historic landmarks to our industrial heritage, riverside communities and local wildlife. ⚓️🏗️🦭

Passengers can now sit at their table, follow our journey along the river and learn a little more about the places they’re seeing outside the windows.

After all the work that has gone into transforming Canny Lass and getting her ready for her new life on the Tyne, seeing these fitted today really does feel like the finishing touch to our interior. We’re absolutely delighted with them! 🧡

A huge thank you to Jon Signs JSGroupuk for designing, producing and installing them for us today. They’ve taken our ideas and turned them into something that looks fantastic and, more importantly, adds another dimension to the experience for our passengers.

A very special moment from last evenings cruise aboard Canny Lass! 🧡⚓

Our lovely young passengers Maggie and Bruce had already enjoyed one of the highlights of their trip — having a turn at driving Canny Lass under the watchful eye of our Captain. 🚢

After all that excitement, they headed outside, wrapped themselves up nice and warm and settled down together to enjoy the night-time views while our fellow passengers enjoyed a drink and the peaceful surroundings of the River Tyne. 🌙✨

Sometimes it’s these little moments that make a trip on the Tyne so memorable.

Making memories on the river, whatever your age. 🧡

A view from the wheelhouse as we cruise past one of the Tyne’s major industrial sites. ⚫️🚢⚪️

During our 3-hour Sea Cruise, we pass the AkzoNobel paint and coatings facility at Felling — part of the fascinating mix of industry, engineering and maritime heritage that continues to line the River Tyne.

From historic shipyards and riverside industry to modern manufacturing, there’s always something different to see as Canny Lass makes her way downriver towards the coast.

And sometimes the best view is the Captain’s! 👨‍✈️

🐬 A very special wildlife encounter on yesterday’s Sea Cruise!

Passengers aboard Canny Lass were treated to a fantastic sight as we reached Tynemouth yesterday, spotting cetaceans – believed to be harbour porpoises – in the waters around the mouth of the Tyne.

Harbour porpoises are found around our North East coastline, while dolphins are also occasional visitors to the Tyne. But, as with all wildlife, sightings are completely unpredictable — so this certainly isn’t something we can promise on every cruise!

That made yesterday’s encounter all the more special for those lucky enough to be on board. 🌊

⚫️🚢⚪️ Cruising past giants of the Tyne…

An impressive view from Canny Lass as we cruise past the historic cranes of the former Vickers-Armstrong Walker Naval Yard, now part of Shepherd Offshore’s Offshore Technology Park.

The huge hammerhead crane on the left dates back to 1931. Built by Sir William Arrol & Co, it was originally designed to lift an enormous 250 tonnes, helping handle the heavy components required for the great ships built and fitted out here on the Tyne.

More than 90 years later, this remarkable piece of Tyneside engineering is still operational. Shepherd Offshore upgraded the crane in 2012, increasing its lifting capacity to an incredible 325 tonnes.

Alongside it stands another surviving crane from the former naval yard — together creating an unmistakable reminder of the shipbuilding and engineering heritage that shaped the River Tyne.

One of the things we love about cruising the Tyne is being able to get so close to pieces of our industrial history that are still standing — and, remarkably, still working today. ⚓️
