Another day exploring North Wales 🥾🏔️

We headed out for a beautiful drive through the Welsh countryside, and, most importantly, on a nice WIDE road. 😂 After some of the roads we’ve tackled lately, that alone felt like a win.

Then we traded four wheels for hiking boots and made our way up to Aron Idol, with a gorgeous mountain lake waiting for us at the top. Peaceful water, big views, and the kind of scenery that makes the climb completely worth it.

North Wales just keeps delivering. 💚

Left Swansea and headed north to our new home base in Colwyn Bay, about a 4½-hour drive (on bigger roads!) so we broke it up with a gorgeous waterfall hike along the way at Tyddyn Gwladys, in the Coed y Brenin Forest.

Fresh air, a little leg stretch, and then back on the road… where we’re also slowly learning Cymraeg, the Welsh language, one road sign at a time.

At this rate, we may be fluent by the time we leave Wales. 😄

South Wales ➡️ North Wales. New scenery, new home base, same adventure.

A day on the Pembrokeshire coast 🥾🌊

We started with the walk out to Barafundle Bay, gorgeous coastal views, a beautiful beach, and that feeling like you’ve somehow wandered all the way to the edge of the world. Definitely worth every step.

Then it was off to the cute seaside town of Tenby for colorful buildings, ocean views, and a wander around town.

Another really fun day in Wales… with another round of “Surely this cannot be a two-way road” driving. 😬🚗 Turns out it can. Brenda continues to earn sainthood for squeezing a car through roads apparently designed for one horse and a sheep. 😂

Picked up a car and headed out to explore the Welsh coast! 🚗🏴

First stop: Rhossili and the Gower Peninsula — dramatic cliffs, sweeping coastline, and some seriously gorgeous views. Then we stopped in Mumbles on the way back to Swansea for a wander along the waterfront.

And can we acknowledge that Brenda pretty much earned sainthood for agreeing to drive us around Wales? 😂 Narrow roads, stone walls, blind corners, cars coming at you, and apparently the occasional sheep thrown in for good measure. All while driving on the “wrong” side of the road!

Beautiful day exploring, and Brenda survived to drive another day. 😇🚗

🏴 On to Wales!

After a few great weeks in England, we’ve officially crossed the border and moved on to Wales! 🏴

We’re starting with a few days in Swansea, using it as our base to explore the city, the waterfront, and some of the beautiful surrounding area before we point the car north.

Then it’s on to North Wales, where we’ll settle in for a while and get back to our favorite kind of travel,!slowing down, living locally, and exploring a little at a time.

England, you were good to us. Wales… let’s see what you’ve got! 🍻🥾🌊

A day spent in Bradford-on-Avon 🇬🇧

We wandered the ridiculously cute streets, through The Shambles and over to the impressive medieval Tithe Barn, stopped for a proper pint and pub lunch at The Dandy Lion 🍺, then walked it off with a stroll along the canal.

Such a charming little town, pretty streets, historic buildings, boats drifting along the water, and best of all… not too crowded! Definitely our kind of day trip.

Colorado ladies, this one is especially close to our hearts. 💗 Our daughter Shannon is helping to lead The Pink Agenda’s Supper Club Denver, an evening bringing women together to support breast cancer research, awareness and care.

We couldn’t be prouder of her for turning something so personal into something that can help other women.

If breast cancer has touched your life, or you just want to support a great cause and a great night, we would love to see our Colorado friends show up for this one. 💕

A day in Bath! 🇬🇧

Took the train over from Bristol and spent the day wandering this beautiful city. We explored the Roman Baths, walked through Bath Abbey, wandered the gorgeous streets, saw lots of street performers, and of course found time for a good lunch and a little wine. 🍷

We weren’t able to take pictures inside the abbey because the choir was practicing, which was a pretty amazing experience.

Bath is one of those places where half the fun is just wandering around the honey-colored buildings, little lanes, pretty squares, and something beautiful around every corner.

We definitely got our steps in and had a pretty great day exploring another beautiful corner of England. ❤️

Weston-super-Mare for the day! 🌊☀️

We hopped on the train to the beach… only to discover that finding the actual water at low tide is a bit of an adventure. 😂 Apparently when the tide goes out here, it goes WAY out!

We eventually gave up chasing the sea and found plenty of other fun instead — wandered the boardwalk, enjoyed some very tasty margaritas 🍹, walked along the sand, checked out some great street art, and somehow ended up in a pub with local live music. 🎶🍺

Not quite the beach day we expected, but a pretty fun one anyway!

Exploring more of Bristol! 🇬🇧

We started high above the city at the Clifton Observatory, then wandered across the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge with some pretty spectacular views over the Avon Gorge.

From there, we made our way down toward the water to explore Bristol’s Harbourside, boats, colorful buildings, waterfront paths, and plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view. Bristol continues to be such a fun city to explore on foot.

A little engineering, a little scenery, and a lot of wandering, pretty much our kind of day. ❤️
