I recently had an enquiry from a couple looking for a luxury Greek island escape.

Cook's Club Corfu caught my eye straight away. The design is stunning, the aesthetic is spot on, and based on the photos alone it looks like exactly the sort of hotel many people would love.

But before recommending any hotel, I spend time digging into guest feedback.

While there were plenty of positive comments about the look and atmosphere, I also found recurring concerns around service, food quality, noise, value for money and whether the overall experience lived up to expectations.

Could you still have a great holiday here? Absolutely.

But when clients are investing a significant amount in a special trip, I want to feel confident that the experience matches the marketing.

That's why I suggested other options instead.

This is exactly why using a travel advisor isn't just about finding a beautiful hotel—it's about finding the right hotel.

I often share hotels that stand out for their design, character, and beautiful spaces. That's very much my thing.

But every now and then, I come across a hotel that reminds me why hospitality matters just as much as aesthetics.

This is Alexander Beach Hotel, Corfu.

This is a simple 2-star hotel. It's not trying to be trendy or luxurious, and it won't feature in a design magazine. What it does offer, however, is something incredibly valuable: genuine warmth, excellent standards of cleanliness, and a level of service that keeps guests coming back year after year.

In fact, some visitors have been returning for decades.

As a travel agent, I think that's worth talking about.

Because while star ratings and stylish interiors have their place, they don't always tell the whole story. Sometimes the best recommendation is a hotel that consistently delivers exactly what it promises and makes people feel welcome every time they walk through the door.

There's something rather special about a place that has built such loyalty over the years. In an industry that's constantly chasing the next new thing, that kind of trust says a lot.
