Last year’s hedge laying project is finished at last! We have the final fencing in place and everything tidied up😄
These fences are spaced a little further from the hedge than they need to be and the bit in between is allowed to grow naturally
Plants and wildlife don’t migrate easily across fields and open areas so by providing wider corridors which connect up to each other we create little cross country pathways for our weeds, bugs, song birds and small beasties.
That makes our owls, kites, buzzards and weasels happy too 😁

I’m pretty grateful for every morning at the moment but what a difference a day makes! Walking the fields with my boots crunching instead of squelching. Fabulous!

Just a little progress update from Kim.................................................................................................................................

Well, that's the first week at home under my belt and I confess I'm pleased.

The NHS give you plenty of help and this little book has been a good read with lots of explanations and weekly get-well challenges. It also has a happy ending which is a bonus. To be honest meeting the Week 1 objectives proved a little bit more difficult than I expected, they were:-

Do a little sewing
Read
Some light dusting.
Do the washing up.
Walk up to half a mile

The sewing was a complete nightmare I need to accept my limitations I guess.
Reading was also a big ask, as a dyslexic that's a challenge I've been working on for over 70 years, In retrospect, aiming for perfection in a week was unrealistic.
On the positive side the light dusting and washing up went really well. I'm quite relieved that I can move on from those now.

With the weather being so foul I have set up an indoor walking challenge. Ours is a long old farmhouse with four different floor levels, odd staircases and some tight corners. There have been a few near misses but yesterday I managed 3km which puts me well ahead of the game. So far ahead in fact, that I may need to focus on my PB time rather than distance for a while.

I was hoping this week's goals might be something like:-
A little welding
Some light body panel sanding
Clean a few engine parts.
No such luck, perhaps next week?

Some new hedge laying on the farm is being carried by the Nidderdale Volunteers. The one we laid two years ago has been cut for the first time and is looking great. (Jenson just wanted his picture taken😁)
