A LITTLE BEHIND-THE-SCENES QUESTION FOR YOU! 🛁✨

We love focusing on the details that make your stay at Orroland feel truly relaxing. Part of that is making sure our cottage bathrooms are beautifully prepared so you can unpack, slow down, and completely unwind the moment you arrive.

We currently provide shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. We are thinking about upgrading our toiletries to a gorgeous, luxury Scottish brand - Arran🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

Before we make the switch, we'd love to ask a quick question to help us get it just right:

When you stay in a holiday cottage, do you usually use the provided shampoo and conditioner, or do you always pack your own trusted favourites?

Drop us a comment below and let us know! Your thoughts mean the world to us as we prepare to wow you :) 👇

GARDEN OPEN DAY: Wander, explore, and simply switch off. 🌿

When you step through the gates on Sunday 21 June, you are invited to explore the estate at your own pace.

Orroland is a landscape of contrasts. You can stroll through our ancient woodland trails, walk through the peaceful wildflower meadow, discover the unique seashore palm garden, and sit for a moment at the secret Indian Temple. From the lawns, the grounds roll right down to meet our private, rocky stretch of seashore looking out over the Solway Firth to the Isle of Man and the Cumberland Hills.

It’s an insider track into parts of the estate rarely seen by the public. Whether you are a keen gardener or just looking for a peaceful afternoon out, there is a quiet corner waiting for you.

All proceeds go to the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group and Church Funds. 🐿️

Orroland is a natural haven for wildlife, and our red squirrels are incredibly special to us.

To help protect them, we are delighted to share that we are officially sponsoring the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group.

Supporting their vital conservation work seeks to ensure these sweet, chattering characters can thrive in our ancient managed woodlands for years to come.

If you love red squirrels as much as we do, discover more about our sponsorship and see more squirrel photos here: https://www.orroland.com/wildlife-and-nature/sponsorship-of-kirkcudbright-red-squirrel-group/

The countdown to 21 June is on, and the estate is waking up beautifully. 🌸

We often talk about the peace and relaxation our holiday cottage guests find here at Orroland, but that feeling is only possible because of the wonderful community that surrounds us.

This Garden Open Day is our way of saying a warm thank you to our neighbours in Dundrennan, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and beyond. Your friendliness makes this corner of Dumfries and Galloway feel like a place where everyone truly belongs.

We are busy checking the trails and tidying the borders to ensure everything looks its best for your visit. We can’t wait to share this restorative space with you all, with every penny raised supporting the Kirkcudbright Red Squirrel Group and Church.

A little pop of nature's joy for World Bee Day!

This beautiful shot of a bee visiting our spring bluebells was taken by one of our wonderful guests while staying at Cutlar’s Lodge.

One of the greatest joys of life at Orroland is having the time and space to slow down, look closely, and connect with the vibrant wildlife all around you. Whether you're an avid photographer or just love to explore, there is always something magical waiting to be discovered on the estate.

We are pleased to share that Orroland has been awarded a Green Tourism Silver award! 🌿

For us, caring for this beautiful coastal estate and its wildlife is just a natural part of what we do every day. While we’d continue this work with or without an accolade, it’s heartening to have our efforts for a more sustainable future recognized by a world-leading partner like Green Tourism.

A huge thank you to our hardworking team and to you, our guests, who value this special corner of Scotland as much as we do.

How much do sustainable choices influence where you decide to go for your holidays? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. 👇

A little surprise during spring cleaning! 🌿✨

While clearing out one of our garden sheds today, we accidentally disturbed this magnificent creature. Meet the Great Crested Newt—a rare and protected resident here at Orroland.

We couldn’t resist a quick peek at that incredible orange belly (swipe to see! 🧡) before delicately relocating our friend to a much quieter, shadier spot in the woodland nearby.

Finding treasures like this is a gentle reminder of why we care so much about the ponds and wild spaces on the estate. It’s their home, and we’re just the lucky stewards.

Have you ever spotted one of these "dragons" in the wild? We feel so privileged to have them sharing the estate with us!
