Pan Ha' Cottage - Leven Everything in this cottage is brand new including the well designed, fitted kitchen complete with breakfast bar.

This is a gem of a cottage close to the beach, which has been completely re-furbished in Summer 2025, providing a modern interior within a fully insulated space, keeping the rooms cool on warm summer days and cosy during the winter months. The open plan living area has a comfortable sofa which can also convert to a second double bed allowing for up to 4 guests in total.

The cottage has had a name change 🥳

Say “Hello” to Pan Ha’ Cottage!

Which immediately brings a question of why the name change, and why Pan Ha’ Cottage, right?

Sit tight and let me tell you a story of a little cottage that was once a mere street away from the Leven Saltworks back in the 19th Century. This map from 1893 shows its proximity! You’d never know now!

So, salt panning was quite the thing and in Leven (and much of the Fife coast) happened on Haughs - a ‘haugh’ (pronounced ‘hoch’ in the Scottish way) is a flat piece of land.

Pan - from ‘panning’ - and ha’ - the shortened version of haugh.

Our wee cottage must have seen some salting action back in those days, and even now you’re often met with a waft of salty sea air when leaving in the morning.

We’ve always wanted to find the right name for our wee cottage and sometimes that takes longer than you might hope for (not to mention the time for the approval from Fife Council!)

Hope you love the name as much as we do!

We love a Vettriano print. Have you been along to Affordable Arts in Methil to the Vettriano exhibition? It’s running until October and definitely worth a look!

Great to see that Leven’s own Letham Glen has been recognised! 🌿🌳🌼🌺🌸And it’s only an 18 minute walk from the Cottage!
