Starting from Lostwithiel Train Station, we follow the River Fowey and pass through farmland and fields to reach the picturesque riverside village of Golant.

From Golant, we continue through an area of natural beauty and dense woodland to the famous Sawmills Music Studio. Artists who have recorded there include Oasis, The Verve, and The Stone Roses. The studio is renowned for its remote, secluded location, accessible only by boat or on foot.

The hike then continues to Par Station via tracks and roads.

Grade: Moderate to strenuous.
A reasonable level of fitness is required.

It’s the May Half Term holiday next week!

On Saturday ‘Shrapnel Boys: Life on the Home Front Museum Trail’ starts at Liskeard and District Museum, this is a free family museum trail inspired by Shrapnel Boys, a new novel Jenny Pearson. Search the museum for different parts of a child’s day to day life during wartime, and enter a VE Day bunting design drawing competition to be in the running to win a signed book bundle from Jenny Pearson and a Double National Art Pass.

This weekend lots of the larger local attractions have their special half term events starting including ‘Kids go FREE’ at Bodmin Jail Attraction, Octonauts at the Eden Project, and half term events starting at Lanhydrock National Trust and Antony House and Garden - National Trust.

Liskeard Relay have their Relay and Family Fundays on Saturday and Sunday. There will be loads of music, stalls, food, face painting, carnivals games and much more! At a separate charity event the Liskeard Young Farmers are also holding a 24-hour Shearathon!! Pop along to watch how many sheep the Young Farmers can shear in 24 hours (although you don’t have to stay the entire time!) there will be tea, cakes and a BBQ.

On Sunday Lametton Mill will be opening their garden for the National Garden Scheme Cornwall and Pencarrow House & Gardens are having a Teddy Bears Picnic!

On Bank Holiday Monday, there will be a free ‘Rockpool Ramble’ at Hannafore Beach from Looe Marine Conservation Group and Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre are having ‘Claytime’ which is an interactive theatre event where the audience are invited to participate, using clay to create amazing animals or morphing monsters or any other kind of clay masterpieces that your imagination can conjure.

We have a special May Half Term page dedicated to all the special holiday events –
