I just love the attitude hotels (after staying in one in Mauritius) and this one in Zanzibar looks right up my street.
Are you working over Christmas? Why not treat yourself to a bit of pre Christmas luxury - when everyone else is getting stressed with their Christmas shopping you could pick up your bits at the duty free too!
This trip is for a lovely chilled out 9 Nights Departing on the 1st of December from Gatwick, on a half board basis all for UNDER ยฃ2000 per person (Manchester ยฃ2100 pp)
Swim-up Honeymoon 1 Bedroom Villa with Garden View and Terrace
These swim-up honeymoon 1 bedroom villas sleep 2 with a double bedroom, garden view and terrace. Plus there's air-conditioning, ceiling fan, shower, hairdryer slippers, bathrobes, tea or coffee-making facilities, minibar and Wi-Fi. This room is non-smoking.
This adults-only resort sits on Zanzibarโs north-east coast, with beachside villas and easy access to Mnemba Island.
Itโs all about taking it slow โ or โpole poleโ in Swahili โ here at Matemwe Attitude. This boutique resortโs got villas dotted across tropical grounds, each one showcasing Swahili-inspired design โ think coral-hued walls, traditional makuti-thatched roofs woven from coconut palm fronds, and stained-glass windows. Rattan furniture and terrazzo floors keeps things cool and locally rooted, and there are also villas with private pools* or direct beach access* you can upgrade to.
When it comes to food, the main restaurant serves up international buffets, while the beachfront spot dishes out 100% Zanzibari barbeque and flavours. And, for a deeper connection to the island, you can visit the Marine Discovery Centre or browse the Bulk Shop for handmade, eco-friendly goodies.
Palm tree-flecked beaches, coral reefs and emerald-green waters โ Matemwe holidays are definitely of the tropical variety.
A sleepy fishing village
Nestled along the north-east coast of Zanzibarโs main island โ Unguja โ this quiet village remains relatively untouched on the tourist trail. Seaweed farming and fishing are the primary money-makers here, although a handful of by-the beach hotels have sprung up in recent years, helped by the powder-soft white sands that line this stretch of the island.
Leggy white sands
As well as its fishing industry, Matemweโs well-known for having Zanzibarโs longest beach. Its wide and lengthy stretch of palm tree-lined, dove-white sand is pulled right up to the Indian Oceanโs grass- green waters, and thereโs plenty of wriggle room for stretching out and catching some rays.
Lots of watersports
If sunbathing on the sands sounds a bit too chilled, there are plenty of watersports to get stuck into. Snorkelling and scuba diving are two of the top picks, and there are plenty of dive schools dotted along the beach. And for something more adrenaline-fuelled, thereโs a handful of kite surfing schools on the sands, too.
Mnemba Island
Just three kilometres off the coast is the tiny island of Mnemba. While access to the island itself is restricted, the reef around it is a popular drop-off spot for snorkellers and scuba divers eager to get up close to the sealife. Thereโs around 600 species of coral fish here, plus dolphins, green sea turtles and humpback whales.
