Everyone's talking about Scotland's castles. This is one of our favourites.

Aldourie Castle is the only habitable castle on Loch Ness, a 400-year-old Baronial fortress on the water's edge that opens its doors for private hire, with twelve bedrooms and seven private cottages across the estate. The castle sits on the water's edge, surrounded by ancient woodland and rolling highlands to explore. Grand halls, well-stocked libraries and a spectacular vaulted dining room make it feel like a home from the very first evening.

Trace hidden bays around the loch by paddleboard, rib boat or kayak, or fish with expert ghillies in its nearby rivers. Or, for those who prefer terra firma, learn traditional Highland games from local hosts, such as tug or war, caber toss and hammer throw.

Ever wondered how a masterpiece is restored behind closed doors?

In Madrid, Goya's Black Paintings are being digitised with laser scanning fine enough to capture a single brushstroke, as part of a 15-year restoration project with the Prado. This private journey goes behind the scenes, from a restoration studio where masterpieces are brought back to life to a viewing of Goya's original tools, normally locked away in a vault. You'll walk the Prado with a Factum Arte specialist, then visit the Real Fábrica de Tapices to see his tapestry designs take shape on the loom.
