Welcome to Setoda, a charming little port town on Ikuchijima Island, right in the heart of the Shimanami Kaido! 🍋🚲

Located around 30–35 km from Onomichi, the starting point of the cycling route, Setoda is the perfect place to take a break during your ride.

You can also visit on a day trip from Onomichi, with a bus journey of around 1 hour or a ferry ride of about 40 minutes.

Wander through the nostalgic Shiomachi shopping street, stop at a local café or tea house, and visit Kosanji Temple, known for its colorful architecture and the striking white marble garden of the Hill of Hope. You can also admire the three-story pagoda of Kojoji Temple or simply enjoy the laid-back atmosphere by the harbor.

And don’t leave without trying something made with the island’s famous lemons! 🍋🤩

We absolutely love Setoda and highly recommend adding it to your Shimanami Kaido itinerary! 💛

Choose your favorite fabric from more than 500 pieces of recycled kimono fabric and create an omamori that’s completely unique to you. ✨

Fall is just around the corner, and with it comes one of Japan’s most beautiful seasonal sights: maple leaves, known as “momiji,” bursting into brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold! 😍🍁

Momiji season begins in northern Japan in early November, then gradually moves southward, reaching southern Japan around mid-December. 🍂

If you’re planning a trip to Japan this fall, don’t miss this beautiful season and see Japan in a whole new light as the maple trees transform the landscape with their vibrant autumn colors.
