Thousands of people spent Tuesday night working out what they were entitled to, and most of them got the answer wrong in the same direction.
The compensation everyone knows about is probably not coming this time. However, the care you are owed while you wait certainly is, and it adds up to more than people expect once you count two days of meals, a night in a hotel and the taxi to reach it.
Airlines are not always quick to offer any of it. Ask, and if they will not arrange it, arrange it yourself and send them the bill. Keep every receipt.

Yesterday afternoon a technical fault in the system that processes UK flight plans took roughly 1,300 flights off the board. Nobody could have prevented that, us included.

What we could do was pick up the phone. Rebookings, rerouting, transfers moved, hotels held, all before most people had finished reading the departure screen. A few of our travellers only found out there had been a problem when we told them it was handled.

That is the whole reason we do this the way we do ✈️
