I’ve just returned from the CLIA Riverview conference in Amsterdam where I had the chance to step on board some of the world’s most exceptional river cruise ships. Here is a snapshot of what sets them apart:

I was lucky enough to spend 4 nights on board this ship cruising down the Rhine from Düsseldorf to Amsterdam.

𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲

Last week was spent cruising the River Rhine, between Düsseldorf 🇩🇪 and Amsterdam 🇳🇱.

Together with 70 other travel agents, I was hosted over four nights by VIVA Cruises on their beautiful ship Enjoy, on our way to the CLIA UK & Ireland Travel Agents Riverview conference.

We enjoyed stays in Rotterdam and Antwerp, with an extra excursion to Delft for pottery and Reubens.

VIVA Enjoy is a comfortable, all-inclusive ship for 180 guests, with mini-bars and Nespresso machines in all state rooms.

The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is genuinely friendly and efficient, and the dining options are excellent and delicious with 3 restaurants and changing menus.

European river cruises are a relaxing way of visiting the continent’s most fascinating cities. Journeys range from 4 to 14 nights, and the choice of ship is crucial to the success of your holiday.

Just arrived in Dusseldorf to board VIVA Enjoy for a 4 night cruise to Amsterdam, stopping at Rotterdam and Antwerp.

In Amsterdam I shall be attending the CLIA River Cruise Conference, meeting with suppliers and visiting ships.

Weather is looking good 👌🏻 ☀️

I know that you all love seeing photos from my client’s travels (now more than ever perhaps to break away from the 24 hour news cycle), so here are a few from a lovely couple who are 10 days in to a Vietnam 🇻🇳 itinerary that was created especially for them.

Full of adventure and exploration, their tour has so far taken them to Hanoi, 5 days of the Ha Giang Loop (motorbike tour in the North East of the country) and on a luxury cruise around Ha Long Bay…

Still to come is R&R in Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City, and then Cambodia.

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 - 𝗟𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸

This week has been Luxury Rail Week, and I've been lucky enough to plan some incredible journeys for clients over the last year, including:

🚆 Edinburgh → Vienna
For lovers of music, the arts, coffee houses and incredible mountain scenery, this trip included stop offs in Amsterdam and Munich.

🚆 London → Cinque Terre
Travelling by train to Italy is a joy; this 12-day journey included stops in Paris, Dijon, Zurich, Tirano and Florence, including the panoramic Bernina Express.

🚆 Aberdeen→ Lisbon
Once you are in Paris, the rest of Europe, and beyond, is your oyster! This trip involved a 1st class sleeper berth to Madrid, with the sun rising over Spain's high plateaus, and then connecting into the Portuguese rail system to arrive in Portugal's capital city.

🌳 Travelling by rail is environmentally aware, very comfortable and fairly priced.

Add in luxury rail journeys in Vietnam, Canada, USA, Japan, South Africa and Kenya... I love including a luxury rail journey as part of a more complex itinerary, or as the main product itself!

This family of four, with 2 curious teens, has just returned from a trip around India’s Golden Triangle - an experience rich in history, beauty and quiet moments of awe.

From an early morning jeep Safari at Ranthambore, to standing together before the timeless Taj Mahal, every day offered a new and meaningful experience.
