🇵🇹 Porto is the kind of city you can spend hours exploring without really needing a plan.
Start by heading down towards the Douro and take in that famous view across the river. With the colourful buildings of Ribeira rising up the hillside and Vila Nova de Gaia on the opposite bank, it’s one of those views that makes you want to stop for a drink and stay a while.
But don’t spend your whole trip around the river.
Head up into Cedofeita and you’ll find a completely different side of Porto. Independent shops, galleries, little cafés, w**e bars and restaurants line the streets, giving the neighbourhood a more creative and local feel.
It’s a great area to wander around in the afternoon, find somewhere for a coffee and then settle into a bar as the evening starts.
And that’s what we love about Porto. You’ve got the spectacular views and historic streets, but also neighbourhoods where you can slow down and experience the city at its own pace.
