A rare break in tradition on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.🇬🇧

To mark 25 years since the September 11 attacks, the Band of the Coldstream Guards performed the US National Anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, during Changing the Guard. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester alongside US Ambassador Warren Stephens received the Royal Salute, echoing the deeply moving tribute paid here by the UK back in September 2001.

Standing by the railings listening to those notes echo across the stones, you realise just how powerful these moments are.

London remembers, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with our American friends and visitors in honouring the nearly 3,000 lives lost.

They call it the London Underground, but honestly, some days it feels more like an underground sauna where you pay six quid just to stand under someone’s armpit and arrive 20 minutes late anyway.

You haven’t truly experienced London until you’ve stood on a packed train, locked eyes with a complete stranger in absolute silence, and realised you could’ve walked there faster above ground.

Leave the subterranean sweat-box to the braver souls, there’s a much better view from the streets up top with the air-con running and a glass roof overhead.

Most people turn up at Stonehenge and rush straight onto the shuttle bus to the monument, but you miss half the experience if you do.

Right behind the visitor centre is where the real story starts. You can test your strength on the giant Sarsen stone sled, step inside the recreated Neolithic roundhouses to see how the builders actually lived, and explore the exhibitions before grabbing a proper hot pasty.

Britain’s iconic heritage is so much better when you have the time to soak up the actual stories.
