The Romanian Athenaeum, inaugurated in 1888, is Bucharest’s most iconic concert hall and a symbol of Romanian culture. Built in a neoclassical style with a grand portico of Ionic columns and a domed, circular structure, it houses the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and is the central venue for the George Enescu International Festival.

Inside, visitors find a marble-columned foyer and a spectacular round concert hall seating around 800 guests. A highlight is the 70-meter fresco encircling the hall, depicting major moments from Romanian history. The building is famous for its warm acoustics and elegant atmosphere.
