Today we transited the Corinth Canal for the first time this season. ⚓
The canal had been closed for repairs and was due to reopen at the end of the month. You can imagine how excited we were when we heard the work had been completed ahead of schedule, allowing us to resume our full routes through both the Saronic and Corinth Gulfs.
Why is that such a big deal?
The Corinth Canal and Saronic Gulf flotilla routes are some of our favourites here at Seafarer. Passing through the canal is a truly unique experience, and every guest who has done it with us has come away talking about it afterwards.
Carved through solid rock, the canal links two seas and creates one of the most memorable sailing passages in Greece. Nearby, you’ll also find the ancient Diolkos, the paved trackway used to transport ships across the Isthmus of Corinth more than 2,000 years ago.
