🛂 We’ve had quite a few people asking about the new EES (Entry/Exit System) for travel to Europe, so we thought we’d share some information.
The new system was expected to be introduced from October 2025 and slowly rolled out. It will affect UK travellers visiting many European destinations.
In simple terms, instead of having your passport stamped, you’ll be asked to complete a quick digital process when entering or leaving the Schengen Area. This may include:
✅ Scanning your passport
✅ Having a photograph taken
✅ Providing fingerprints on your first registration
✅ Having your entry and exit recorded electronically
The good news? You won’t need a visa for normal holidays, city breaks or cruises, and once established, the system should help make border crossings more efficient.
We’ve created the guide below to help explain the changes and answer some of the most common questions we’re being asked.
As always, if you’re unsure how these changes might affect your upcoming holiday, cruise or European break, we’re here to help.
