A perfect rural retreat surrounded by nature 🌿🌳 Set in the stunning countryside of Monmouthshire in Wales, our Top Barn and Long Barn are charming converted stone barns that offer an ideal location for exploring the Wye Valley, South Wales and the Forest of Dean in a peaceful natural setting. We welcome well behaved pets, and our guests can enjoy a range of nearby outdoor activities, from leisurely dog walking and cycling along scenic routes that start right at our door, to canoeing, abseiling and wild swimming. Whilst at the barns, our younger guests often enjoy helping with animal feeding and egg collecting. In the evening settle into your private secluded garden with fire pit and BBQ and watch the sun set over the Welsh mountains in front of you. Located near the top of the Kymin Hill, the barns overlook the town of Monmouth and provide a rural getaway that is only an hour’s drive from Bristol, Cardiff and the West Midlands. These are self-catering properties that suit families, groups of friends and couples looking for a short break or longer stay in the beautiful Welsh borders.

Featuring the birds, bees, butterflies, wildflowers, leaves and mushrooms of Britain, the beautiful illustrations are by Alexia Claire and add a lovely splash of colour to the rooms, as well as fitting perfectly with our countryside surroundings.

Our lovely new photos of Top Barn are ready 💚

With two bedrooms on one floor, Top Barn is a cosy home-from-home. There's everything you need for a relaxing getaway, including a wood burner for cooler evenings and our new covered outdoor seating with fire pit.

From inside the barn and out in the garden, the Welsh hills are part of the experience. Big skies, rolling countryside and that feeling of being away from it all. The kind of view you find yourself looking at for just a little longer 🌅

And we think the new photos have captured Top Barn beautifully, from the character of the old building to all the little details that make it such a welcoming place to stay!

We've just had new photos of Long Barn taken and we're loving them💚

It's been such a busy summer we sometimes forget to step back and take stock. But seeing Long Barn captured like this reminds us what a special place it is.

The master bedroom has double doors opening onto the garden and a window looking out across the Welsh hills. Lie in bed and take it all in. Breakfasts on the patio. A fire pit as the sun goes down.

The open-plan living area is made for games, long dinners and relaxing. There are double doors onto the garden, a log burner for cosy evenings and plenty of space for everyone to settle in.

The character of the old barn is still very much there, with sections of exposed stone wall, huge wooden lintels and thick walls that help keep it warm in winter and cool in summer.

But it's the work we've put in that makes Long Barn a home from home. Wood floors throughout, modern bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, lush furnishings and attention to detail everywhere you look.

And the views. Of course, the views 🙂

Summer wanders around Monmouth ☀️

Our local town is a great place for a day out, with a wide range of independent shops, plenty of great food and drink, lots of history and architecture to explore and two beautiful rivers, the Wye and the Monnow, offering peaceful countryside walks 💚

We always recommend a visit, it's a lovely town and only a mile from our barns.

No need for weeding or hedge trimming around here, our sheep are happy to do the job 🐑

Our pet sheep live in the neighbouring field and provide endless entertainment, especially when there’s a particularly tasty hedge or patch of weeds to munch on.

They’re very friendly too and love a head stroke and a bit of company, so feel free to say hello when you’re staying with us.

There's a beautiful patchwork of gold and green to the views at the moment ☀️

From the freshly harvested fields below to Monmouth and the Welsh hills in the distance, the landscape in front of our barns is still full of colour and character, with plenty of greenery even though it's been so hot and dry recently!

Whether you prefer a shaded walk in the forest or sunning yourself on the patio, summer is a gorgeous time of year here🌅
