Newquay is coming together for something big...

On Saturday 19 September, Earthwave is bringing the Newquay surf community, local businesses, charities, creatives and organisations together for an ambitious World Record Attempt - with one huge challenge:

🏄‍♀️ Can more than 110 surfers ride the same wave at the same time?

But Earthwave is about more than what happens in the water. It’s about celebrating everything that makes Newquay’s beach culture so special - surfing, community, family, music, food, creativity and the ocean. 💙

With local businesses and organisations already getting behind the event, there are lots of ways to be part of the Earthwave Founding Event... from entering a team and putting your business on the beach, to donating a prize, creating an activation or becoming a founding partner.

Summer might be coming to an end, but Newquay Town Council has got one more day of fun planned!🎉

Join us at the Killacourt on Saturday 5th September for the Newquay Summer Finale, a FREE day out for all the family.

Running alongside the BIG Newquay Market, there’ll be lots going on from 10am-4pm, including:

🎡 Free fairground rides
🦖 Dino Discovery Show & walkabout – 12.30pm
🪨 Squashbox Theatre: Stones & Bones – 11am
💃 Children’s disco – 2pm–4pm
♟️ Chess with Newquay Chess Club
🚒 Local organisations, charities & emergency services
📻 Radio Newquay hosting throughout the day
🛍️ And of course, the BIG Newquay Market

There’ll also be a raffle with some great prizes donated by local businesses, raising money for Children’s Hospice South West💚

So if you’re looking for something to do with the kids on Saturday, come and join us on the Killacourt and help us give summer a proper send-off!

A sneak peek at Newquay's new play park, which opens TODAY!

Join us at Mount Wise Gardens from 12pm to 2pm for the official opening of Mount Wise Play Park. There'll be free refreshments, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Mayor, and the chance to be among the first to enjoy the new equipment.

We can't wait to see you there! 🎉

Welcome... to Mount Wise Play Park. 🛝

The wait is nearly over. Our team are applying the finishing touches ahead of our Grand Opening Event on Wednesday 2 September, 12pm to 2pm (more details here: https://newquay.gov.uk/events/official-opening-of-mount-wise-play-park/).

A couple of weeks ago, whilst we were at Boardmasters, we caught up with Ashley Harding for a chat about his set, his life in Newquay and what the town means to him..

Our little Boardmasters home🏄‍♀️

For the first time this year, Visit Newquay had our very own cabin at the Boardmasters Surf Village at Fistral, and we loved it!🩵

For five days, it was our little base for welcoming visitors, chatting all things Newquay, sharing local tips, handing out maps and guides, running competitions and giving away some goodies along the way.

It was so lovely seeing people pop in to say hello, ask for recommendations, tell us about their favourite places in Newquay or just have a chat about their plans for the week.

And being right in the heart of Surf Village meant we got to soak up ALL the Boardmasters atmosphere - the music, the surfing, the sunshine, the crowds and those classic Fistral views.

A massive thank you to all of our local businesses who got involved in the competitions we ran - The Nici SeaSpace hotels Accessible Adventure Olla Hiki Sauna Cornwall Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park Newquay Water Sports Centre UK PADEL Newquay🥰 - the winners have now been contacted, congratulations if you won!

And lastly, thank you to everyone who came to find us and took the time to stop by. We loved meeting you!
