Fast and furious felines
The fastest mammal on land was caught in action by our client on his trip to South Africa. These speedsters differ from other big cats with an agility unmatched in the animal kingdom. Their non-retractable claws help to grip during their high-speed pursuits, and their long tail allows them to change direction quickly at pace, like a rudder on a boat. They are highly athletic and can’t roar, making sounds that resemble those of the tame and much smaller domestic house cat.

At Aardvark Safaris, people are at the heart of everything we do, and as an Employee-Owned Trust, we couldn't be more excited to welcome two brilliant new members to the family! Alex will be heading up our team in our Hampshire office, and Louisa will be joining our sales experts in our Scottish office.

𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 grew up between Abu Dhabi and the UK, with the UAE sparking a lifelong love of travel. After an early career in oil and gas, he found his true calling in the travel industry in 2011 and hasn't looked back. He brings over a decade of expertise in crafting private, tailor-made itineraries and joins us with a passion for delivering truly memorable experiences across Africa. When he's not comparing sundowner spots, you'll find him pitch-side with his three children and out in the Cotswolds with his labrador.

𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗮'𝘀 Africa story began with volunteering on a rhino conservancy in Zimbabwe. That experience lit a fire - she explored Kenya, camped across Northern Tanzania, and backpacked around Zanzibar, before channelling her passion into a Zoology degree at Newcastle. A previous internship at Aardvark Safaris sealed the deal, and after working and travelling in New Zealand and Australia, she's back and joining the team as a junior sales expert.

From poacher to protector
Nyoni grew up in a village near Hwange, poaching to feed his family after elephants destroyed his crops. Then, after being rescued by Imvelo's guides following a buffalo injury, everything changed. He trained as a scout, joined the unit in 2020, and today leads a team protecting the very animals he once hunted.

His story is at the heart of why we're so proud to support Imvelo's Community Rhino Conservation Initiative - a project that doesn't just protect rhinos but transforms lives and entire communities in the process.

In 2025 alone: two new sanctuaries fenced, 24 new scouts recruited - including the first three women ever selected, and one very unlikely wildlife ophthalmology success story.

As our chosen charity for 2025, we are delighted to have contributed £2,000 towards kitting out this remarkable team with uniforms.

By choosing to stay at Bomani Tented Lodge or Camelthorn Lodge, you contribute directly to the visitor fees and revenue that sustain these sanctuaries and support local village funds.
