Exciting news for Nottingham as the city prepares to welcome the world of synchronised skating in 2027! 🌍

We joined Nottingham ice skating legends Dame and Sir Christopher Dean at the and today for the announcement that the city will host four World Championships across nine days, from 27 March to 4 April 2027.

And Nottingham will be making history.

The city will host the first-ever Senior and Junior Synchro9 World Championships, with Sir Christopher Dean describing the new discipline as “a whole new genre of skating” and adding: “It’s all going to start here in Nottingham.”

We also heard from .sr synchronised skating captain Claire and coach Esther Morris about what it will mean to welcome the world’s best to their home ice.

The announcement was made by Martin Ingham, CEO of Motorpoint Arena Nottingham; Maggie Still, CEO of ; Tamara Cvijanovic, Performance Pathway Manager; and Martyn Hindley, Head of Corporate Communications & PR at the (ISU).

The scale of World Synchro 2027 is huge:
🏆 4 World Championships
⛸️ 1,100 skaters
🌍 21 countries
👥 20,000 spectators expected
📅 9 days of international competition

For a city with such an incredible ice skating heritage, from the legacy of Torvill and Dean to the generations of skaters following in their footsteps, this is another huge moment for Nottingham.

And with competitors and spectators travelling from around the world, we can’t wait to welcome them to our city and county and show them everything Nottinghamshire has to offer.
