And it won't have escaped your notice that I'm not not in the UK myself today. But that makes no difference to the service my clients get when they need emergency support.

Last night I had help from other travel colleagues that all jumped in to help support where it was needed. It's a team effort, but at all times my clients have direct contact with me, day and night.

These things happen. Fairly regularly actually. And every time it underlines the value of working with a professional travel advisor.

Ask all the people that slept on the airport floor last night, or those that didn't know what to do when they were cancelled. Or that had to pay again for more flights whether they wish they had someone to turn to that handles it all. I bet I know the answer!

It's been a very busy crazy 24 hours, with more coffee than I'd care to admit, but everyone is sorted amd that's all I care about.

"One day..." honestly if I had the proverbial £ for every time I heard that I really would be rich.

And that used to be me, so I understand it completely. 'when work calms down' 'when the kids are older' 'when there is more money in the pot' 'when, when, when...'

It's my turn! I book this trip for clients regularly and now I'm getting the chance to go and experience it for myself.

Nine nights across North India...visiting the places you'd expect me to; the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi...but also other spots Chambal and Ranthambore (tiger country!)

Honestly, flights are priced dynamically. If there are loads of seats available then you may nab a bargain (which is why I go on about booking early!). If there are fewer seats, it gets more spendy. Simple as that.

There's a slight twist to this though. And that is that if you can travel midweek (actually travel...not book) then you will likely find cheaper flights than at the weekend. And again, that's a supply & demand thing - a lot of people will travel on a Fri or Sat so naturally those flights are costlier.

So - think ahead and book early for the best chance of a bargain. And, try and be flexible with your travel dates, that helps me to find you the best I can.

So forget the nonsense about booking on a certain day, it's twaddle!

Two modes of transport are my go-to in every city. Either an open-top bus tour where available, or in smaller cities I love to jump on a bike.

Yesterday we spent the day in Almería, a city we know quite well, and we still discovered more.

The whole city was built as a fortress, and the Alcazaba is the largest Moorish fortress in Spain, still dominating the skyline.

The cathedral is also one of a kind. It was built as a fortress as much as a church, with thick walls and corner towers to hold off pirate raids. It's truly beautiful.

And a fun fact. I also learned John Lennon wrote Strawberry Fields Forever while staying here in 1966. Every day's a schoolday, eh?

We had a great tootle around on the bikes, enjoyed the palm-lined seafront, ate proper tapas, and watched the world go by.

A brilliant spot for a city break, so if you fancy an autumn getaway, Almería should be on your radar.

The people lying somewhere warm in the middle of a British winter are not luckier than you or richer than you - they are just three months ahead of you!

They are the people that had the conversation early. They didnt wait until work calms down. Or wait for a free weekend to pop up. Or wait until they had half a plan of their own before they contacted me.

You don't need a destination, a date, or a budget worked out to the last pound. You need one sentence. "Debbie, get me out of the grey." The rest is up to me.

So send it. That one sentence. Send it to my emails or DM and leave the rest to me. While it is on your mind.

Yep. It's summer. Who wants to think about ski holidays right now? Crazy people?

Nah. Smart people!
Ski is a book-early game. If you want a chalet in the right spot, or the perfect ski-in ski-out hotel then you really do need to get ahead.

Finding the right resort is a skill. And last season I had a lot of clients asking for somwehere 'different' so I thought I'd share these ideas. Three quieter resorts, all beautiful, and all with incredible skiing.

Because ski holidays are about more than just a lovely hotel. You need to consider ability and confidence. And think about what else everyone wants from the holiday...some fun apres ski, or just super peace and quiet. Do you need lift passes, lessons, equipment...?

That's my job. You tell me who's going, what level you ski, and what you actually want from the week. And I will I find the resort that fits and handle everything for you.
